I have been here on multiple occasions for dine in and take out and the food and service are always top notch. But I have to commend the team at Sushi Ya for their service on valentine's day. Upon walking in to order take out we were told it would be an hour wait which was not a problem as we were happy to walk the main strip and stop at a local pub for a pint. I must state that the place was packed when we first arrived and somehow even busier when we returned. The phone did not stop ringing and people were lined up out the door.
Watching the sushi chefs was a thing of beauty.
Every movement had a purpose and while they were moving at what was no doubt a hurried pace between the two of them, they did not sacrifice quality or attention to detail one bit.
Our food was outstanding. We got the Black Dragon Roll, Salmon Skin Roll, Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura, Miso Soup & Beef Tataki.
I don't know how they do it but this place is consistently some of the best Japanese food I've ever had.
The servers were certainly able to keep cool and a content demeanor throughout as well, flashing smiles at us every time they walked by. Their observation of the cleanliness of the restaurant was wonderful as well. While watching one server return to the kitchen with hands full of dishes, I witnessed her seamlessly pick up a napkin from the floor that I suppose had been dropped or overlooked prior. A little detail that deserves appreciation.
I've always had an impeccable experience here but as I said, I feel the need to express how well and kept together this staff can act under pressure. Amazing job on a crazy...
Read moreWe happened to be in the area, so we wanted to try what Milton had to offer. I got the worst Rainbow Roll I've ever had in recent memory. I like to order Rainbow Roll, which is a combination of California roll with some sashimi on top, and this seems to have become an indicator dish for me to tell whether a sushi restaurant is good or bad. First, the roll broke easily. I attempted to grab one piece and it broke apart by itself. It was difficult to eat also because other pieces were stuck to each other. The avocado and sashimi pieces such as raw salmon, tuna or shrimp, on top of the roll didn't seem fresh. In addition, there wasn't the standard filings in the roll as you would expect such as cucumber, avocado and crab meat, etc., the roll was pretty empty and had only some cucumber. I felt sorry that we actually paid for this quality of maki, at least it wasn't super expensive. The service was okay. We had to ask for water twice. My husband was not impressed with his nabe udon, either. The fish cake in his udon, which was tri-colour of blue, pink and white, I recognized as ones you can get in instant noodle cups. The hanging lanterns inside the restaurant seemed to be a safety hazard given the black, thick electrical cords were hanging out of the ceiling. I wouldn't recommend this place and I...
Read moreThe miso soup is the best in Milton!!! The scallops all natural in a salad/hot bowl is the best in Milton. The sushi is fresh and big!!! Love it the sushi The lunch box is almost perfect. Except for the tiny teriyaki piece of salmon but I think is because of profit. The place is cozy and chic. If you detail it the floor is not perfect neither the paint in the wall but the food is good. Not cool a big sing on "April 9 2016" at the door saying it is not all you can eat. I suppose they are feed up with pigs. Hahahaha. From all the sushi places in milton is the BEST in milton. It is not cheap. It is not for toddlers and it is good food. Come and try. Bring around $40 per person. But it is the best in Milton!!! After eating take a walk in Main Street. Eat a ice cream 1 block to the right or walk the park to the left. Or go to the swimming pool 2 block behind. The restaurant it is in Maine street. Love the Japanese music and videos.
