As a newcomer to Milton, I was excited to try 8th Note Eatery as I heard so much about it in various Facebook groups. This quaint place was decorated with eclectic music memorabilia and is located off of Main street in the heart of downtown Milton. Although the restaurant wasn't too busy during Saturday lunch, I've read that the place is hopping when there's live music playing. The server was friendly and quick to place our order but it did take quite some time for the plates of food to be prepared and served. I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries (more on that later) and the presentation was definitely Instagram-worthy because of the double stacked chicken pieces. The sandwich was good but otherwise not really noteworthy. The chicken pieces were big and had a nice crunch them but they were on the drier side as opposed to being succulent or juicy. The chickrn was more oily than spicy. Side rant: Especially having visited Nashville to try the real deal, it's disappointing when restaurants (not just this one) claim to serve Nashville HOT, but there's little to no spice in order to cater to the general public instead of heat aficionados. As such, the sandwich fell flat for me. If the heat level was increased by several octaves, it would do a better job of staying true to its namesake. The coleslaw in the sandwich was tasty, crunchy and had good acidity. However, the Wildflour bun was dry and kept falling apart after every bite. The sweet potato fries were tasty, well salted and had just the right crisp. Although I knew there'd be an upcharge for this, I didn't expect an outrageous upcharge of $5.50 for sweet potato fries. Due to this being a signicant amount (25% of the cost of the $22 entree), I think the upcharge amount needed to be mentioned specifically by my server. Given that the entree already included regular fries, I'm still bewildered that there was such a significant upcharge for replacing regular fries with sweet potatoes fries. Would I go back to 8th Note if a group of friends were heading over? Sure, but it would have to be during a live music evening. The Nashville Hot sandwich was average (perhaps another sandwich would have been better) hence the 3 star review. With average food at upscale prices, it wasn't worth it for me...unless you're being entertained during a live music night.

We had a disappointing experience at The Eighth Note. From the moment we walked in, the host (with the green hair) didn’t greet us—they simply told us we can sit anywhere. Once we chose our seats, the host brought us water with dirty glasses (literally had lipstick on one of them🤢) Our server was polite, she apologized for the dirty glasses and brought out new ones (which had water stains on them). We ordered two sodas and a sangria pitcher, with the corn dip appetizer. It took over 30 minutes just to get our beverages (the ‘beach bum’ sangria was great). The server apologized and said that the wifi went down and their kitchen was unable to see what orders were put through. After our beverages and appetizer arrived, it took over 20 minutes for the server to take our main meal order. THEN, it took over an hour for us and the table behind us (who ordered at the same time as us) to get our food. When another group of people came in much later than us, they were served both their beverages and main food before our table and the table behind us. It was interesting to note that we were minorities, but the table who came in after us and was served their food right away were not minorities…..I asked the other server (who was apologizing to the table behind us for their long delay) why that group who came in after us got served first and she immediately said ‘I can get you a manager’….huh?! I didn’t ask for a manager, I simply asked a clear and simple question. It was like that server thought I was going to lash out or something…very weird behaviour on her part🤔. Also, what would a manager tell us after we’ve already waited for so long? We simply wanted our food.. Overall, this experience was below mediocre. The $150 worth of food that we bought was not that good (two of us ordered cajun pasta which was undercooked, and the ‘fan favourite’ Vera Cruz power bowl was severely lacking flavour). The server offered to discount our meal, which was kind of her. But we absolutely won’t be returning. ‘Atmosphere’ was a 1 star because the FLIESSSS were everywhere..

Graduation Dinner Ruined at The Eighth Note!!!!! We came to this restaurant to celebrate my two sons’ high school graduation. We wanted to try something new and have a nice evening. What we got was one of the worst dining experiences. We waited nearly two hours and never received our food. We got there, ordered some drinks and placed our order. After 30 minutes, I asked the server what was going on. She said, “Let me check.” Twenty minutes passed, no update. I asked again. Same answer, no follow up. Another 30 minutes passed by, and still nothing. I asked to pay and leave. A second server said, “I’ll be right back.” She never returned. When I approached her the first time, she identified herself as the maùnager, and she was actually carrying a food order to another table, for guests who had arrived after us. She left me talking mid-sentence and walked off to serve them. No apology. No explanation. When I approached her a second time, her only excuse was that the plate she had in her hands was “hot” and being delivered to people who came later than us. What about our table that didn't have the hot meals that we ordered over one hour and a half ago????? That’s what made it worse. No ownership. No solution. Not even a lame excuse for our situation. We sat there for almost two hours, starving, ignored, and completely disrespected. No one ever explained why our food never came. No one apologized. Just terrible, disorganized, careless service. As someone who used to own a food venue, I know issues happen. But in this business, excuses mean nothing. When something goes wrong, you fix it fast. You communicate. You take care of your guests. Here, there was no accountability, no urgency, and zero customer service. The restaurant was half empty. It’s not like they were slammed. And to top it off, there was no air conditioning on a hot day. That just added to the frustration. Parking is terrible as well. This restaurant just have the perfect combination to have a terrible time. We left after two hours with no food and had to eat at a fast food restaurant just to get something in our stomachs. A special night was completely ruined. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it at all costs. No service, no professionalism, no respect, and well, same as happened to me, NO FOOD AT ALL. In response to the owners reply:

Thank you for your reply, Jo Anne.

I’d like to clarify that I did not use profanity, and I do not swear. I’m a calm person by nature, please don’t confuse frustration. It’s disappointing that no responsibility is taken for what happened. With all due respect, you weren’t there, so I suggest verifying facts more carefully.

We were a group of seven, including two family members visiting Canada, specifically for the special occasion. We had only eaten breakfast that day, and we were genuinely looking forward to enjoying a nice dinner together. We waited nearly two hours, and not a single one of the seven meals we ordered ever arrived. Not one. That speaks volumes about the level of service. We are talking that out of the seven orders the kitchen couldn’t even get one of the burgers ready? We received two appetizers, that’s all. We weren’t asking for anything complicated, just burgers. None arrived.

I have experience running multiple food venues. I know problems happen, but it’s how you handle them that defines your business. In this case, there was no accountability, no transparency, and no real effort to correct anything. What was missing was communication, organization, and leadership.

Jo Anne, this review wasn’t written in anger. It was written so you can learn from your customers and take actions and that others could decide for themselves whether this restaurant is the right place for them. My experience there completely ruined a meaningful night, it doesn’t mean that everyone will have the same luck as I did. One thing I can tell you though, is that it feels that instead of addressing the issue, your response tries to discredit me, and that says a lot about how you...

The WORST dining experience we have had in Milton.

It is important to mention we have dined here many times previously BUT WHEN IT WAS UNDER PREVIOUS MANAGEMENT.

We went to Pretty Rad on a Friday. We knew it would be busy and we're prepared to be flexible. Upon arriving we were quickly told there was no space for us. After waiting for another server to check we were told we could dine if it was quick, before the next reservation group arrived. We anticipated this and happily obliged. We had a solid hour and 45 minutes until the reservation, plenty of time. Or so we thought.

We were seated with menues and selected drinks, appetizers, mains and dessert so we could order it all and be in our way quickly... although we were already feeling rushed it was a full 18 minutes before our server arrived.

To be considerate we ordered everything at once and mentioned it can all come out as it is ready so we could get out of there quickly.

Drinks took another 10 minutes to arrive (brought by a different server) but we weren't bothered because they were delicious (one of the only upsides of the evening and why this restaurant gets 1 star). Shortly after our appetizers arrived and they were just okay (also brought by another server). We had been at the restaurant for almost an hour now and knew we needed to keep up the pace to make it out on time for our engagement and to make space for the reservation after us.

This is where the night took an awful turn. Keep in mind we had only spoken to our server once at this point. We were never checked on at all.

Plates and drinks were removed from our table from our appetizers. We then sat for a FULL 55 MINUTES doing nothing. We found another server and asked what was going on and they said they would check. It was another 15 minutes before our server even ventures over to our table again to ask if we wanted more drinks. We were shocked and puzzled that in an empty restaurant she never asked how we were doing.

We are now well into the reservation time (and having done our part, we were waiting for our food and desserts). After we told the server we didn't want any more drinks she left without an update on our food. We then asked another server about just getting our check because we were in the reserved space and they said they would check.

Another 15 minutes later our server arrives at the table and I say we need our check we are late. She leaves to get it and comes back 10 minutes later with a bill for all of order INCLUDING ALL OF THE FOOD WE NEVER GOT. I insisted I wasn't paying for that. She then took another 20 minutes trying to remove those items. It never happened. The manager came over and tried herself but even MANAGEMENT DOESNT KNOW HOW TO USE THEIR OWN POS SYSTEM.

The manager apologized and gave us our appetizers and drinks for free but we were still STARVING.

As we got up to leave, angry, hungry and disappointed, the server who we had spoken to no more than 3 times stood there waiting for a tip... on a free bill, for service we never got.

This place is the absolute pits. Avoid it at all costs. Servers to management are clueless, have beyond awful service, are rude and should not be running a restaurant.

Please continue to support Rad Bros, but avoid this place like the plague.

While I can't guarantee you will have an awful experience like we did, I can tell you, you will be disappointed. When spending your hard earned money go somewhere where they know how to run a restaurant...

Unfortunately my husband and I had one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve ever had, on Valentine’s Day nonetheless and are not likely to return. Which is incredibly unfortunate as we love to support local but cannot justify returning for the price tag and experience we received.

We had a reservation for a 530 seating and were very excited to support local and celebrate Valentine's Day together, especially given how wonderful the menu sounded We were seated, received our drinks and placed our order all within a timely manner; things were off to a great start We received our appetizers, a caesar salad and the soup--both were wonderful! During our appetizer, we both headed to the washroom to wash our hands, and upon returning to the table, our mains were already there; our table was actually so overfilled that the server struggled to find space to fit the plates At this point, we rushed through the appetizer (not even finishing) to shift attention to the main course, which after approx. 3 mins of sitting on the table was stone cold We were also surprised to see that despite the menu & social media posts promoting crispy potatoes with the mains, that we had received mashed potatoes; more unfortunate was that the mashed potatoes were stone cold, wet and reminiscent of instant mashed potatoes When our server came by to see how things were going, we were honest and shared that my meal was already quite cold; she offered for the kitchen to remake the meal but rather than that ordeal (recognizing the foot traffic had picked up quite a bit) I just said that having it heated up to a hot temperature would be great Approx. 2 minutes later she returned with my meal, still very cold; when asked how it was I informed her it was still quite cold and at this point I really would just prefer a takeout box so that I could take it home myself and heat it up to an actual hot temperature We then continued our drinks and waited for dessert--chantilly cream with mint and chocolate covered strawberries per the menu When we each received a plate, consisting of two chocolate covered strawberries, swimming in a sea of cream, reminiscent of canned whipped cream with chocolate sauce haphazardly splashed on top, we were quite surprised, but also quite frankly, we were done and asked for our bill as we really just wanted the night and...
