I had a horrible experience here tonight (first time in new location). Firstly I was skipped in line whilst waiting to be seated. Second, no greeting not even a “hi” by the older waitress. Lack of curtesy/respect/decency. Third when we finally were seated the waitress skipped over us again to serve the table beside us. I’ve been coming here for years and never had any problems here. Disappointed in how they handled it. I was the only black person in the restaurant so I suspect it was racism. Unacceptable, when asked to speak to the manager they told me the waitress was the manager. Unprofessional and pathetic. Food is good but the suspected racial hostility left a bad taste in my mouth. I won’t be coming back until this is resolved.
Update: I didn’t “feel” like I had a bad experience, I did. Please do not patronize me. I left hungry and was violated. Instead of correcting the issue, management decided to gaslight me. Claiming I’m disrespectful for not allowing them to be hostile towards me and to ignore me MULTIPLE times. Even the woman seated beside us noticed the poor service and spoke up on our behalf because we were patiently waiting. I have no intention or gain in lying.
I’m appalled by the lack of decency at this establishment. I understand it’s a family-run business, but they should learn how to handle a customers negative experience in a professional manner. Instead they insinuated that I “played the race card.” How ridiculous, childish and really shows how low they are morally. They were right and I was a victim of horrible service and they are the victimizers.
I suspected the waitress of being racist because of how she acted around us and her lack of competency. They blamed it on being Friday and busy, but that was a lie because they skipped over our table intentionally multiple times to serve both tables beside us. The other table wasn‘t even ready and their people were not even all seated at the table.
If your waitress is incompetent in waiting tables, then she should not be working busy nights. This is not my problem.
When we were seated at our table. She dropped a bottle of water with no glasses and proceeded to wait the other tables (which didn’t even have everyone seated yet). She knew what she was doing and was purposely ignoring us and giving attitude. I do not come into establishments with attitude or ego, so I was really put off by her behaviour.
For the record, I did not say hi and waited for her to open her mouth to greet us. She didn’t say a word. So they lied when they said that she did. I don’t have the energy or the audacity to make up lies for a business that I actually like the food. I’m not delusional. When I say she didn’t do something, she didn’t. And when I say I suspected racial hostility, I did. I don’t care if you have Africans working in your kitchen as they mentioned in their reply. You treated me, a customer poorly. Don’t use your employees as a shield it’s pathetic.
We left after we had enough and clearly it was a hostile environment. I don’t know what would happen to the food if it would come out. I did not want to find out. I SUSPECTED racism as I said. Your response was very condescending and eye opening. It reflects poorly on your business and values.
I won’t be coming here at all and this is a warning for others. They are extremely ill-mannered and unprofessional. This is my honest review of this establishment and my experience. Do not attempt to diminish/downplay my experience to compensate for your lack of...
Read moreWhen it comes to food you don't go to a restaurant only for a taking meal, you select to be there to be treated well, in terms of respect, serving food and spending your time and probably make a memorable time for yourself. When a restaurant gets super popular because of their customers, then the customers must pay extra costs, they have to pay cash because the restaurant is so popular to accept customers' options and they don't offer you a reservation because they don't care if you wait for a long time outside in a freezing cold temperature. The button line they need only your money and nothing else. I won't to the restaurant to order a pizza, but the waitress without asking me if I want to dine in said our take-out takes 45 minutes. are you ok with that? I just nicely asked her if I write down my phone number on the order in case she calls me once the order is ready as there is no room to wait inside the restaurant. After one hour I thought they should be too busy to give me a call so I went there to pick up my order. It turns out my order has been lost for some reason. The waitress apologized but she didn't even offer me any compensation. I didn't see her wanting to fix the issue just because they have enough customers so it doesn't matter if one of them disappears forever. Instead, she generously offered me another 25 minutes. I don't talk about the food as there was no appetite for me to taste it at all. On a poster inside the restaurant, it was written “We are sorry we don't take your reservation or you wait for a long time as you are here for a good reason” To be honest I didn't see any good reason to be there. I'm sure the owner doesn't care about this review and even looks at the reviews. there should be too busy collecting money rather than going through the reviews and improving their...
Read moreI've been going to this restaurant when I'm in Montreal for over 25 years and up until this evening, never had a complaint. I went in this evening, sat down, and my server came and asked if I wanted a menu. Sounded a bit strange, but I said yes. (Maybe I looked like a regular?) I ordered my meal, thoroughly enjoyed it (as always), then asked for the bill. The pricing on the bill was about 20% higher than what had been on the menu, so I asked the server to correct it. She looked at a little scrap of paper (not the menu) and told me that the price on the bill was correct. Essentially, their menus are out of date, but no one told me this when I was ordering. When I said that they should have told me this when handing me the menu, I was told that I should have used the QR code "menu" on the table to see the current prices, or that there is a printed menu with pricing above their cash that I could reference. (Why would I do either of those things if I have a menu in my hand? I wouldn't, nor would anyone else.) I was also told that because of COVID and trying to be sustainable, they're trying to avoid paper menus. I have no issue with that, but you need to at least tell me that the menu you're giving me is out of date. An easy fix would have been to honour the outdated price and a commitment to better communication. An apology too. None of those happened. I'm not sure if I'll be back. ...
