Our wedding at Auberge Saint-Gabriel was nothing short of enchanting. Nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, this historic gem, established in 1754, offered the perfect blend of modern elegance, chic yet old-world charm and refined French cuisine. From the moment we began working with Tehanni and Valerie, we knew we were in expert hands. They brought thoughtful ideas, respected our vision, and made every step of the planning process feel seamless.
As a former chef and passionate foodies, our expectations for the menu were sky-high, and they exceeded every one! From the passed hors d'oeuvres to our signature cocktails and perfectly executed entrées (yes, the beef was a flawless medium rare!), the culinary experience was unforgettable. Our guests are still raving about the food, and we couldn’t agree more.
The ambiance was pure magic: flickering candlelight, crystal chandeliers, exposed brick, and a quirky elegance that’s uniquely theirs. Since our wedding was on a Sunday, we had the whole venue to ourselves, which made everything feel super intimate and personal. When the rain let up for a bit, guests wandered out onto the terrace with their cocktails, chatting and soaking in the vibe between dance breaks. Our DJ was amazing...he’d played at the venue before and knew exactly how to keep the energy flowing. The staff was so helpful making sure he had everything he needed to set up and connect our music throughout the space. While he spun tunes in the main room, our cocktail-hour Spotify playlist played through the lobby and bar, which was such a cool touch. It felt like every corner of the venue had its own little moment.
The service staff was impeccable, they were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. We also want to highlight the beautiful tasting experience they curated for my then-fiancé and family, a few months prior leading up to the event. It was personal, intimate, and left everyone in awe.
Though I didn’t see the venue until just days before the wedding, Valerie’s confidence and care, along with our amazing planner, Alison of AnneFinley Weddings, gave me complete peace of mind. And when I finally walked in, it was beyond anything I had imagined.
A heartfelt thank you to L'Auberge Saint-Gabriel for helping us create a day that was timeless, delicious, and deeply personal. We can’t wait to return as dinner guests and relive the magic...
Read moreHorrible service! We had a table booked at this restaurant for 7 people. When we arrived, it was just the 5 of us as one of the couples was running late due to a minor flight delay. When we got seated, we were approached by a woman who was dressed in a tiny glittery romper with an excessive amount of cleavage (I guess she works at the club doing bottle service at this place). Not the welcome we were expecting given this is a classy restaurant. She asked if the other two people were coming soon, and we politely told her that there was a minor flight delay but they are on their way here now. She did not like that response and began to argue with us in a rude manner stating that there was no way they would make it here in time if there was a flight delay. We once again reassured her that our friends are already downtown and will be here in another 20 minutes, and in the mean time we wanted to order some drinks. She continued to argue that we are not giving her truthful information and that those two extra chairs should be given away. Our friends finally arrived in about 20 minutes just as we told her. We had round of drinks and started asking her questions about the menu. She was not able to answer our questions about the menu as she says she doesn't work in this section (not sure why they would even send her over here in the first place then). We finally ordered our food which came with a few errors and things we did not ask for. The food was alright, nothing special. She did not return to ask us how our food is or if we needed anything else. Our water glasses were empty. Each time we waved someone over we felt like we were a bother to them. When it came time to pay the bill, the tip wasn't big enough for her liking and she rudely asked if there was something wrong with the service. We were forced to give a better tip even though the tip we gave was already generous. Will never return...
