In the heart of Montreal, Café et Crêpe offers a whimsical dance of flavors that almost makes up for the cha-cha of service missteps. My wife and I embarked on a culinary pas de deux, sharing their lox plate - a delightful tango of taste with lentil soup and a soft drink sidekick. But here's the twist: self-service Diet Coke! After ordering, I found myself on a mini-expedition to the front, like an urban forager hunting in the wild aisles of casual dining.
Our flavor journey continued with the Nutella Banana crepe, a sweet serenade that had us humming with delight. The crepe was a masterful symphony of gooey Nutella and banana - a true sonnet of the skillet! ☕️ On the beverage front, I dove into a cappuccino that was like a warm hug in a cup, while my wife's Americano played a bit of hide-and-seek, requiring a gentle nudge of a reminder to join the party.
The café's ambiance is a charming embrace of Montreal's joie de vivre, with a sprinkle of "Ooh la la!" But beware, the service might have you tapping your toes more in impatience than in rhythm to the quaint background tunes. 🎶 In the end, Café et Crêpe is a sweet spot with a savory twist, a place where the food pirouettes on your taste buds, even if the service occasionally trips over its own feet. 🕺💃
A delightful spot for a crepe caper, just keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Americano!...
Read moreI managed my expectation before coming here since there are not many real french crepes in Montreal (if any). I just didn’t expect to find out that there is a way to make very bad crepes in this world. The only logical explanation here is that they didn’t use butter, nor milk in the recipe. I took crepes au jambon, fromage and œuf. The egg was nowhere to be seen, the cheese was tasteless and the ham looked and tasted like turkey ham. The crepe’s color and texture was beyond recognition. My wife took pomme caramel cannelle crêpe. The crepe’s dough was strangely the same as the salty one. Who on earth doesn’t put sugar in their dough to make sweet crepes? The apple bathed into some weird taste liquid. Did I mention the price? Let’s not even go there!
This restaurant would not get more than one star in France. Sadly, people lined up to buy take out or dine in here. Where is the so called...
Read moreThis place was close to our hotel and, when in Montreal, eat crepes! So we did. My husband and I split our crepes. We got the goat cheese, spinach, tomato and added ham as well as strawberry Nutella. They were both delicious. We couldn’t finish them both. We also got coffees - him, a cappuccino and I got a white mocha. They were both really good. There were just two women working and they did a great job. Delicious food and good coffee. I gave it one less star because it wasn’t one of the best crepes I’ve ever had. Definitely solid and delicious though. And I struggled with the Christian religious music and Fox News on the TV. No thanks. If those things don’t bother you, definitely swing in for some quick, easy, and yummy crepes and coffee at the end of...
