This restaurant is EVERYTHING.
My friend and I went there on a Friday morning around 10:30 AM. Parking is free on Saint-Jacques and its surroundings before 12 PM, but otherwise, I would recommend going by public transportation because Old Port can get pretty crowded especially in the summer and it's harder to find parking.
We were greeted by the owner who directly sat us down. The atmosphere of the restaurant is super calm and minimalistic. I believe it is one of the only brunch places where I could hear the person in front of me talking without them having to shout. The mirrors are fun, they make the place look bigger. They have huge windows which make the place very luminous and bright, the orange/yellow coloured walls and benches as well. The bathroom was extremely clean and smelled amazing!
As for the food, the menu is small but it makes it easier to pick what you want to eat. My friend started off with an iced latte with almond milk. I was pleasantly surprised that they did not bring any plastic straws, better for the environment. We ordered 3 plates to share: the ricotta pancakes, the breakfast sandwich and the ritchie's breakfast plate.
The pancakes are out of this world!! The lemon cream on top of them is truly one of a kind. The breakfast sandwich is filled with chimchurri sauce which makes it very tasteful. The ritchie's breakfast plate was also very good, we had it with smoked salmon. My only tiny issue: I just wished they eggs and the salmon were a little bit more seasoned.
Overall, the service is impeccable. The waiters kept coming to our table asking if everything was alright and adding water to our cups. The price is right, because the food feels high quality.
I would definitely recommend this place for brunch and I'm excited to try it...
Read moreFirst impressions: we were 2 people and arrived on a Monday at 11:30 am and saw about 7 or 8 groups ahead of us in line. We were expecting a 1 hour wait and would have been fine with that (we even brought out books to read in line). Nice surprise to see we got seated within 15 minutes.
Service: waiter was very friendly and quick and came back several times to refill waters, even during the lunch rush. It took about 40 minutes to get our food after ordering, but again it was the lunch rush
Drinks: my wife's $7.00 orange juice tasted suspiciously Tropicana (boo!), but my maple latte was great. Very sweet and tasted more like maple candies than maple syrup. Got an Americano after that which was nice.
Food: started with the Chicken sandwich, which was huge and delicious. Fried chicken thighs (not breast) on a fluffy brioche with a herby creamy sauce on a bed of slaw that included granny smith apple. We cut it in half and shared. We added a side of fingerling potatoes which were crunchy and well seasoned with herbs and salt. Came with a side of garlic sauce, and went well together with the sandwich.
Last we had the stack of pancakes which remained warm by the time we got to it. The pancakes were dense (not as fluffy as Arthur's) but intentionally so I think. The pool of maple butter at the bottom was awesome and did not get sponged into the bottom pancake. Came with lemon infused mascarpone on the side, which added some bitter to offset the sweet. I liked it, but my wife could have done without (but she still didn't give me her portion!)
Overall was a great experience and would return to see what else Dandys...
Read moreSuper adorable brunch spot located in the rustic old buildings of Montreal. Old on the outside, new on the inside!
My sister and I went over the weekend and had to try this spot after looking at the pictures! We ordered the Ricotta Pancakes, the Buttermilk Fried Chix Sandwich and the Sausage Roll.
The Ricotta Pancakes were very soft and you can see bits of ricotta when you cut into it. The brown sugar maple sauce is to die for; I could drink it! There’s also a lemon cream that balances the sweetness from the sauce. The Buttermilk Fried Chix Sandwich was honestly the best item we tried. Lightly battered and a huge piece of chicken. There’s also a green apple slaw that pairs so well with it. Massive sandwich, but with all the right ingredients. The Sausage Roll is only offered on the weekend; it’s flaky and super delicious. Reminds me of the ones in England! For our drinks, we ordered the Matcha Latte & Chai Latte. The matcha was slightly bitter but really frothy and smooth. The chai latte was creamy and honestly a really good cup of chai!
Cute spot with quite a bit of seating. It fills up quickly, so make sure to go early. We went at 10:15am on a Sunday and only managed to snag the last 2 person table for the first round of brunchers. Customer service was wonderful; happy and helpful servers. They also offer some baked goods that you can take to go such as their scones, cookies, brownies, butter tarts and more! I definitely plan on coming back...
