Restaurant Review: Le Petit Sao in Old Montreal
As a visitor with limited knowledge of French, I was delighted to find that Le Petit Sao in Old Montreal offers both French and English menus. This thoughtful touch made the dining experience more accessible and enjoyable, while I waited for my order.
Dishes Ordered:
Mama Thi Nems: These crispy Vietnamese spring rolls were a perfect start to the meal. They were filled with a flavorful mixture of ingredients, providing a delightful crunch with every bite.
Chicken Bun Bowls: This dish was a delightful mix of grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, and vermicelli noodles, all brought together with a light and tangy sauce. The flavors were well-balanced, making each bite a refreshing experience.
Grilled Chicken Pho Soup: Known for being tricky to execute as take-out, Le Petit Sao's Pho was a pleasant surprise. The broth was rich and aromatic, and the grilled chicken added a lovely depth of flavor.
Packaging and Take-Out Experience: Le Petit Sao deserves high praise for their take-out service. The packaging was exceptionally well-thought-out and maintained the quality of the food. The Pho, in particular, was packaged to preserve the integrity of the broth, noodles, and fresh herbs, ensuring that it tasted as good as it would if served in the restaurant.
Overall, Le Petit Sao in Old Montreal excels in providing delicious Vietnamese cuisine with a take-out service that truly stands out. For those who are not fluent in French, the availability of an English menu is a significant plus. This restaurant is a must-visit for both locals and tourists seeking a great Vietnamese...
Read moreI changed my review to 4 stars, I went back with another friend cause she really want to try this restaurant. And surprisingly, this time, service, cocktails and food were very good. Staffs are super friendly. Everything came at the right timing. I would come back with other friends next time.
(Three stars review): Heard about this place from a influencer on instagram. So I went to this restaurant with a friend. And the food was not bad. (But I got a bit of stomachache and diarrhea when I got home). And I didn't eat anything before going to this restaurant. So I'm not sure if it was the salad which wasn't very fresh, other condiments or the grilled chicken with the curry sauce... The cocktails, I would say it wasn't very constant. The first sangria that I ordered was very tasty and then I ordered a second one (it tasted very strong alcohol in it). I don't know if they were using a measuring tool or not. My friend got a banh mi sandwich. She said it was tasty. Not sure if I would like...
Read moreDelicious and filing. I went on a Thursday at 11:50am (to beat the lunch rush) and was so very glad I did. I had the rice paper tofu roll and the chicken Bahn mi (pictured). I didn't get a picture of the roll because it looked so good I just ate it up. Good portion and well marinated tofu with crunchy veggies. It was delicious and served with an equally good peanut sauce. The chicken Bahn Mi was the star or the show. The sandwich was a huge portion and stuffed with a well grilled and seasoned piece of chicken. I really enjoyed the pickled daikon and carrot that were in the sandwich. I have a coriander allergy and they easily accommodate it. They even have a table set aside to sit and wait for your take out orders. The space is small, and there is a large step to get into the restaurant. It is a long and narrow space so likely gets very crowded very easily. Very cute and the food is filling and delicious. Will definitely be coming back next time I have to go...
