I would like to give a rating of about a 2.5/5 if I could only because my aunt said that everyone was very kind but overall the experience was subpar. I booked a spa day for my aunts 60th birthday. She's from Montreal and I am in Ontario so I heavily relied on google reviews when looking for a place to surprise her. At the end of the day we spent almost $600 and hearing my aunts experience I am thoroughly disappointed and would not recommend anyone to visit this spa for their prices.
I booked my aunt the hammam and 1 hour massage, a facial and manicure/pedicure package. Unfortunatley due to some health issues my aunt decided that the hammam was too much steam for her to handle, so she asked if she could do something else instead and they offered her a paraffin treatment which was nice. She was originally scheduled in for 11:30 but asked if she could come for 11 instead which she did. (Parking was also very confusing as one person told her the spa would validate her parking but then she ended up having to pay $25 for parking)
My aunt said she enjoyed the massage very much but did have to wait almost 45 minutes since she opted out of the hammam (which she was fine with) but the therapist wasn't there yet. They had her waiting upstairs, she said the chairs were nice to look at but very uncomfortable. She said the lights were so dimmed it was hurting her eyes.
Her aesthetician was very lovely and kind, but her facial was just "ok". The aesthetician was fairly new to the industry and unfortunately my aunt said she could feel her inexperience in her touch. The same went for her mani and pedi.
But the biggest complaint my aunt had was the condition of the facility and how outdated it is. She said the chair for the pedicure was like sitting on a park bench. She couldnt get comfortable and the aesthetician noticed and made a comment that other people have complained as well. The paraffin warmer was filthy with hair and the aesthetician apparently apologized for the condition of the pot.
My aunt feels horrible complaining, because she knows we spent a lot of money to try and pamper her but instead she left with back pain from how uncomfortable she was during her manicure and pedicure. I'm extremely disappointed and don't normally leave reviews however by the sounds of it this spa needs a big overhaul and upgrade in their quality if they are going to charge the...
Read moreThis spa is really, really small; it's the tiniest spa I have ever been to, and it's overpriced. The massage wasn't even good. They charged me an extra $10 for asking the massage therapist to apply more pressure during the session, but she was barely touching me. She even mentioned she could have charged me an additional $30 since it should have been a deep tissue massage. It was a horrible experience, and I won't be going back again. By the way, the final bill for my 60-minute Swedish massage was $178. You're welcome for the information. Also, they don't even provide a bathrobe. Nothing. You finish, and you leave.
*To reply what the admin replied:
I did NOT arrive late; in fact, I arrived 5 minutes earlier. As for the reason you were unable to provide anything, the massage therapist informed me that bathrobes and towels are only offered to clients who choose the Hammam service, and they are not provided to massage clients. That's the information I received. Additionally, I did not request a deep tissue massage. If the massage therapist intended to charge extra for applying more pressure, I would have declined, but instead of informing me of the extra fee upfront, she proceeded without prior notice and charged me at the end.
In conclusion, rather than placing blame on the client, it would be more constructive to acknowledge any shortcomings in your services and strive for...
Read moreThis experience really wasn’t up to par.
My wife and I both scheduled therapeutic massages, and our overall takeaway was they were weird and not very good.
Originally I decided I needed a massage because I woke up with a crick in my neck. The concierge at my hotel helped us book here at Rainspa, and we scheduled one right after for my wife too.
My massage was a bit odd. For instance, for part of it he was rubbing me through the blanket, and several times during the massage he ended up resting his belly on my hand. But for me the main issue was that despite the fact that I asked twice that he focus on my neck, he really didn’t do much work on my neck, and I left with more-or-less the same pain I came in with.
My wife’s experience was perhaps even a bit stranger. Among other things, the masseuse (same guy) accidentally exposed her breast while she was face up and didn’t immediately cover her back up. He also rubbed massage oil into her hair, requiring her to go home and shower.
We do not believe the masseuse was intending to do anything inappropriate, but overall the result for both of us was that it was weird and ineffective. And for the price, we are pretty disappointed.
I should note that I said something as I left about him not fixing my neck pain, and they gave me 10% off my massage. Nonetheless, it was as about...
