We were headed to a different restaurant. Walked by LaSelva. We went to the other restaurant and had an appetizer. Was not impressed, by the service or cost of drinks. Also the menu was in French which was fine but one waitress told us to take a picture of it and translate it…..wow
Decided we would walk back to La Selva for dinner. So glad we did. They were full, we were going to leave but the kind waitress said we could sit at the bar. The lady at the bar was so nice to us. A table came available, I asked if we could sit there. The owner of the restaurant came and cleaned it (that doesn’t happen in any place I have been too). We sat and ordered a delicious meal. I ordered quesadillas, was not excepting the rice and salad that came with it. It was so much food. My Husband had the Gringo? He could not even finish it, and he usually can.
The owner came and chatted with us. He speaks English, Spanish, and French and so do the other employees.
What I really liked is the menu was in French and English. Did not find that in many restaurants.
It’s a small but quaint restaurant, service is amazing and the employees were amazing. The owner was saying he took it over about 6 months ago.
So next time your in the area of Montreal 862 Rue Marie-Anne Est And like Mexican food give it a...
Read moreThis was our first time coming back to La Selva since October 2022 and had come twice before then. We absolutely loved this place the first times eating there. In the past, the tacos de asada were certainly the best we had ever had in Montreal. We also really appreciated the great service from the owner when he was present. In comparison, we were truly disappointed last night when we realized how much the menu had changed since and the huge drop in quality of the food. The asada was dry and lacked flavour, and the toppings like caramelized onions just did not pair well at all. The portions were also significantly smaller, which we could understand if the quality of the food hadn't diminished so much. The service as well was not great, which felt like such a contrast from the last times we visited and were served by the owner. I am sure there are reasons for the changes in the menu, but we for one would love to come back for the great food we had our first few times visiting the restaurant but we will sadly not be returning if these new changes...
Read moreCame here for my birthday dinner with a few friends. Although they didn’t really have notice to do anything about it, they didn’t really have anything in store for my birthday so it was just a regular dinner. Not that I had expectations but it is always nice when a restaurant does a little extra something out of acknowledgment for a birthday, it made me think that another restaurant would have been a better choice for my birthday. Mexican food is some of my favourite though which is why I chose this place. The prices are alright. Menu has mid-level of variety, a bit more than just tacos and burritos but not much more. The overall quality is not bad but not impressive either. I think the high ratings for this place are not reflective of this. For the prices they are charging it’s reasonable food. I ordered a Mojito and I have to say that drink was pretty amazing though. Pretty rare I like a drink more than my actual meal but this was...
