Terrible experience. have a feeling that the owners of this place are too ambitious for the project. I am not usually someone that complains about food places. I have been half way around the world travelling and eating in places that others would not dare. Nevertheless what a terrible experience this was!
There used to be a really good Korean restaurant here before. Now it seems to be a sort of Hipster Fusion sort of resto.
Really loud place. No seating for more intimate talk. The food is a really weird mix of Asian/Italian.Too Rich and fatty mix ! I ordered the Pork Belly Ramen and the whole thing came imbued in a rich creamy sauce. I almost had a Gallbladder attack!
A staff member had explained on the Facebook page that they have authentic Taiwanese dishes but i saw very few. Half of the Menu Items were crossed off because they are not available. And the others were a sort of Crossbreed experiments which some might think of as really good but in all honesty they have probably never tasted the authentically exquisite cuisine of Taiwan!
I ordered a beer and 10 minutes later they came to tell me they had none available because the machine was broken and the beer was flat. (Maybe if they are into the fusion thing they should have local microbrewery stuff in bottles if needed. The only Beer on the menu was Sapporo and then they had none.
Then they served us and it took an eternity before we got our dishes. But they forgot to bring us Cutlery. (I have the impression that the staff was too busy). Maybe they should hire more people.
Then the waiter who took our order was really nice but his mouth smell was terribly Foul. (I suggest getting Hygiene Etiquete because Foul smelling mouth on a Waiter/Waitress really turns anyone down!
I gave the place a bad review on their Facebook page and they deleted my review. Which i find it very dishonest and not able to tolerate any negative feedback. Which is strange since the idea of feedback is for them to be able to correct what i felt was a negative experience if they want me and my friends back in that place.
I mentioned in my previous Facebook review that maybe they should indeed carry Authentic Taiwanese Dishes. There is a whole Plethora of wonderful dishes in Taiwan that they could offer but i guess their thing is the Fusion thing.
Which is fine i guess if you are into the Hipster/Trendy Fusion thingy.
But if you are looking for a more traditional authentic experience dont go there. You will be highly disappointed. Save the bucks instead if you are hungry; Go down the street on the corner and get yourself an A&W Burger with Sweet Potato fries and a Root Beer.
At least you can get some of beer even if it...

Been pretty loyal since the original bistro opened over a decade ago. They served amazing and innovative food when it started. A serious contender for Taiwanese Asian Fusion in Montreal. I secretly felt guilty consistently choosing them over others for Taiwanese, but their quality was incomparably good.
After the first move, favourite items were removed and overall service, quality dipped a bit, especially ambiance dropped due to lack of interior design and plastic furniture. But that's okay.. it's hard to scale quality and they still rocked food and some of their best dishes kept me going back. I always wondered if the owner changed but I never asked.
Fast forward after the pandemic and with their third move to take over the space of their former downstairs neighbour (Atti), the ambiance improved thanks to inheriting Atti's dark decor, although it's very loud now.
Unfortunately some improvement in ambiance came with a proportionally inverse trade off with quality and service.
My waitress this summer called a sous-vide egg soft boiled, so I was surprised when it showed up. I explained to her those are two noticeably different styles of preparing egg. Her reason for not describing it properly was because 'most customers don't actually know what it is'. Her attitude wasn't outrageously rude, but it subtly felt like she didn't want to be there, at least not at our table. I could forgive that because most people understand temporary jobs, and she was young and probably new and busy managing different tables. However, common sense says it was subpar service, plus it was a slight insult to my food knowledge, and an indication of how far the ball has dropped since the original bistro first started.
The manager was smart about it when I suggested him to better train staff on the knowledge of their menu. As an apology they remade the main dish and took an appetizer off the bill (I was told the beef skewers would not be spicy, but there was a decent amount of chili on the marinade). I still left a normal 15% tip and waited till months later to write this review so it's not easily tied to any date/names. But these days I hesitate to return and lament for the amazing bistro it once was.
It's now a trendy Asian 5-7 spot, and that's fine to draw in new crowds for the bar aspect, but they lost sight of what the bistro aspect should focus on .. good food, and turned their back on long-term...
Read moreBoth of our chicken was totally burned and it tasted pretty bitter, and the curry tasted watery, we complained but apparently since “we didn’t notice at first, so we were only able to get a 30% off on the chicken curry meal”, but I found it very ridiculous cuz the we ate it with the curry first, the bitter part wasn’t too obvious, but we made a complain right after we noticed it. They compensate us first with a 30% of discount or cheesecake, we didn’t want the cheesecake and the discount was not acceptable, yeah we almost finished the egg and the rice but we didn’t touch the chicken much, and for the second plate, we barely touched anything. But apparently the manager said that we ate the MOST of them so we only got a 30% off.
The service wasn’t good, we sat down and there wasn’t anyone that serves us water or anything until we were almost done eating and then we had to ask for the water at the same time of complaining about the food.
I would like to mention this after the owner’s reply.
First of all, we ordered 2 plates, we ate the most of the rice and egg for the first plate but we didn’t touched the second one much, so I don’t understand where did the 90% came from. According to your logic, since we didn’t touch the second plate much, we were suppose to able to get a new one or a fully refund about that one plate, how come you guys offered overpriced cheesecake to us? Second, I don’t see the reason of bringing up the fact that we stayed longer and took pictures, we ordered and pay, but it doesn’t meant that we enjoyed the food or anything. We walked from Concordia to the restaurant because years ago we enjoyed the experiences here, the food was amazing and the services too, so we were expecting good food and good services. Third, I also complained about the services but you didn’t seem to bring this element up at all, so I’m just assuming that you knew that the service was not good at all but how come you kept mentioning that we ate 90% (which isn’t even true), and we took pictures and stayed. At the very least, we talked to the waitress multiple times, and she took her time to talk to the manager and come back to us, I’m curious that how come the manager didn’t even show up at all ?
I wouldn’t send this review if you guys weren’t finding excuses from...
