It's supposed to be fine dining ?? My boyfriend came here twice but it probably be our last time as well. Well at least we give chances to try. The bill was over 200$ Pro : The ambiance were great ! Very chic and stylish. We were outside at the terrace, highly recommend. Music was nice and cool. Cons : Staffs : very chic but not that friendly and honestly quite erogan. Food : Ordinary , quality doesn't meet expectations for the price. I am not sure if it was our luck or the food was really ordinary and quite disappointing. We don't mind the price if the food is good quality O-Toro 25 $ for 2 pcs. One of the sashimi piece was very chewy. At this price, I expect a good piece of fish that can be eaten the whole piece not just partially. I had better quality and price somewhere else. Scallop nigiri was just ok. The rice was just ok, the scallops were fresh. Salmon and tuna Tartare It was a good looking presentation dish, however the taste was nothing special. Scallop truffles roll 23$ I had a piece of something like a hard crum of quinoa ( maybe ) stuck in my tooth first bite of sushi. Besides that it was ok. Surf and turf roll was very DISAPPOINTING !! for 39$ , the Wagyu beef on the top part were VERY CHEWY ! I was surprised and wondered if that was the style of beef or it was just a mistake ? We ended up taking off the prices of wagyu , the rolls still very ordinary. White wine was ok for 19$ for very ordinary wine. Overall you pay for the cool ambience not the food. for that price range doesn't meet our expectations for food quality at all.

While ending up paying over 400$ for a Valentine’s fixed menu for two, my feelings about this place remain mixed. We received a welcoming service, great places and were pleased with the ambiance, attentive waitresses and food presentation. The plates arrived on time, their distribution was perfectly calculated. Same goes to the portions. Overall we had around 7 dishes, and this is where things start to get interesting. Of course, it is well known that on special holidays every established restaurant tries to raise profits on a selected variety of foods, but this is the exact moment when quality questions arise. The restaurant claims itself to be a fine cuisine dining, but gastronomically wise it was a very simple, almost tasteless experience for a very few bites. Same goes to the wine that didn’t make the “match”. I know a bunch of much less popular, hidden in a small neighbourhood, places that can deliver a higher quality sea food for a ridiculously smaller bill. You pay for a good presentation that brings you a luxurious feeling, not food. Just like these big giant designer brands. So don’t get fooled. Besides that, we received a very great table service and this is why I leave here a good rating. The girls did an incredible job on maintaining the image.

I went to the Ryu in Griffintown. Absolutely loved The place is very nice with dark lighting. Perfect to go out with friends or even for a romantic date night I went here for my birthday dinner with my sister. We ordered the platter of 12 piece sashimi to start, WOW the FRESHEST raw fish I've ever had . We also ordered the beef short rib, OMG the meat just melted in your mouth definitely a must!!!!! We got some signature Maki which were so good. Hands down the best a la carte sushi restaurant I've been in MTL so far. We paired everything with a bottle of champagne, it was so delicious I cannot wait to go back It's abitt pricey but definitely worth it because everything is so fresh and good Hostess and waiter were all so friendly, we even got 3 different flavor ice cream mochis offered to us at the end of our dinner which we did not expect and they were amazing and so light Definitely a MUST this place, you won't be dissapointed.

My friends and I had hands down the worst treatment at any restaurant ever. I am very disappointed because i have been the the other Ryu locations multiple times and service was always great. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lady at the front very abruptly no even a Hi - we were 10 minutes early - just told fyi we are not ready yet and you have to leave in 2 hrs! It then kept getting worse and worse- we asked for a different table if it was possible and got accommodated then rushed so much in order for us to leave asap- my friend asked for a drink before the end and literally was denied : we didn’t even order the bill yet. By the time her drink would've been there we would be paying and would've left. The same lady from the front desk i reckon her name is Yuri or Yuram im not sure comes storming our table accusing us of having called the waitress out of her name which is insane!! And proceeded to accuse us of absolutely mind boggling things. I was never ever treated this way. This is still beyond me as i am writing this review the next day. They gave us a discount that we declined politely to the waiter but he asked us to “please i can’t talk to her.-the same lady Yuri- just accept the discount”- this goes to show the kind of manager she is or whatever her position is- her staff is even afraid to talk to her. And frankly i understand why. We did not want any discount- we frankly would have paid double to just feel welcomed and respected like any other restaurant. We left feeling shocked, insulted and baffled. Again, Ryu as a brand should really take notice because this kind of customer treatment is beyond damaging no matter if the food is good or not, we go out for the whole experience. I will make sure to share my experience with everyone around me and beyond. So...
