After a long time, we finally revisited Chinatown in downtown Montreal last weekend. We were mainly there to buy a few things, but of course, we couldn’t resist exploring the dessert options. This time, I chose Coco Pâtisserie, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. While many bakeries on the same street offer a variety of pastries, Coco stands out with its twist—it has an impressive selection of brioche, both sweet and savory, along with a dedicated section for coco iced tea and bubble tea. Their array of cakes and unique flavors really caught my eye.
We took advantage of their deal for six brioches (no tax when you buy six or more). The plain one (or “nature”) came in a separate bag, and the other six we picked were: Oreo, ananas (pineapple), cheesy, tapioca, sugary, and custard. Let me break down the experience: Oreo Brioche: This one wasn’t my favorite. It was a bit too heavy for my taste, and I found that the egg flavor was too strong, which overpowered the Oreo aspect. Ananas Brioche: Surprisingly, this one tasted better the next day after I put it in the fridge. The pineapple flavor really stood out and became more enjoyable after chilling. Custard & Sugary Brioches: Both of these were consistently good. They had a nice balance of sweetness, and the textures were just right. I’d definitely recommend them. Tapioca & Cheesy Brioches: These were okay but didn’t really stand out. The tapioca one had an interesting texture but lacked a strong flavor, while the cheesy one was fine but didn’t wow me. Nature Brioche: The plain one was a winner, especially when paired with a little bit of jam or Nutella. Simple yet delicious, it was a great example of how good a basic brioche can be when done well.
Overall, the brioches were fresh, well-made, and offered a range of flavors, making it a fun and varied experience.
Now, let’s talk about their twist, the iced tea. I tried two from their menu: the fresh fruit tea and the brown sugar latte with pearls. The fresh fruit tea was incredibly refreshing and packed with real, fresh citrus fruits. It had a natural sweetness and a bright, tangy flavor that I loved, perfect for fruit lovers. The brown sugar latte was also fantastic, with just the right amount of sweetness, and I found it to be better than similar drinks from more well-known shops. The pearls had a good texture, and the drink wasn’t too sweet, which is often a problem with this type of drink at other places.
What surprised me the most was seeing some bad reviews about Coco Pâtisserie. Our experience was smooth from start to finish. When we picked our brioche, the process was straightforward. You just choose what you want and head to the cashier, no hassle. The staff was polite, and they even asked whether I preferred a box or bags for our items. In the bubble tea section, the girl working there was very helpful. I had a few questions about the drinks, and she took the time to explain everything clearly and with a smile.
Overall, for me, it was a great experience, especially compared to other similar pastry and tea shops I’ve visited earlier this year. The service was friendly, the food and drinks were fresh and tasty, and the prices were fair. I highly recommend trying Coco Pâtisserie if you’re in the area, especially if you enjoy fresh fruit teas and a variety of brioche. It’s definitely...

Read moreI don't normally ever post reviews but this time it was called for. We were visiting Montreal from Toronto and came to this place twice. The first time was on a whim and we loved the cozy bakery vibe and the delicious baked goods so much so that we recommended it to other family and friends visiting and took them here today. This time the customer service was an absolute disappointment. We got almost 12 items and were rushed while cashing out because the store got busy. It started raining heavily outside so we asked for two plastic bags. The cashier was extremely rude and snatched the bags away from us saying you have to pay 15 cents each. We said yeah sure we will but this time she asked for cash (which we obviously didn't have on us so we said to pay by card but she refused). She was indirectly implying that we were trying to steal and it was extremely disrespectful when she walked away from the cash station while we were talking and starting her own work in the kitchen. We tried talking to the other cashier but she straight up ignored us and didn't even look us in the eye. To end the review, our food did get wet while we were walking outside to our car and it was a very unpleasant experience. I hope the owner sees this and actually trains their staff properly with due customer service skills because shutting down a customer while they're talking and walking away isnt a good step for your business in the long run. What a shame I wont be coming here again because their baked items are actually really nice but the service...
