went there wednesday night, there was a lot of staff and everyone was very friendly. if its your first time at a hot pot place, they take the time to explain everything.
service was very good and quick !! we didnt wait at all even though there were a lot of ppl (we arrived around 7pm). they would often come by to re fill our broth and ask if we needed anything
we had the yin yang broth: the spicy one wasnt spicy at all but it was still flavourful and good. the other broth didnt taste much, but you can order kelp, pork bones etc so i guess thats a way you could make it taste less bland
i personally dont eat meat, but my friends said it was very good, especially the garlic beef. i did eat some cow/beef stomach by mistake and it was really good (which tells a lot bc i dont usually like beef). everything was fresh, the squid and mussels were good, they have lots of tofu and vegetable options !!
as for the sauce bar thingy, there was no garlic. i literally had to fish garlic cloves out of our broth. but other than the missing garlic, everything else was pretty much there !!
the dessert bar was perfect, after a big hot pot meal fruits are just the right thing !!
with tips and taxes, the meal was around $40 which is a very good price for an all you can eat
personally not sure if ill go back simply bc i dont eat much so all you can eat restaurants are never my go-to, but its super enjoyable to go there with friends, you get to spend a lot of time together and eating (we were there for a bit more...
Read moreHad an occasion to visit Montreal again recently and came to this place after 7 years. And boy what a disappointment it was.
The worst was the food quality. The broth smelled like it was at least a day old. The meat was not fresh. The lamb, especially, had extremely pungent smell that I had one bite and didn’t even bother to eat the rest. Shrimp balls were mushy and bland. Both my GF and I ate for like 10 minutes and stopped because we felt like we were going to puke. I personally am not a picky eater and have a stomach to withstand some very sketchy street food in developing countries, but this place I just couldn’t handle it (felt like I was going to get upset stomach if I ate more).
Second disappointment is their sauce section. I’ve been to many hotpot places but this place has the worst. Spicy sauce is just way too salty. Hoshin sauce looks very old… No garlic and pepper (which should be a bare minimum). Peanut butter sauce had a very stale and bitter taste. Big thumbs down.
Giving 4 stars on service because the staff was attentive and nice.
Overall, the best tasting item from this place was the diet coke. Everything else should be avoided.

Read moreI love this place for the food, the people and the setting. This hot pot is an incredibly tasty and healing food experience. (Health secret: opt for the non-spicy broth, add anything with bones first, then add in whatever you fancy, at the end sip some of the broth. This rejuvenates stomach lining and skin.) The menu caters to all tastes; from the safe bet of tofu to treats for the daring like cow stomach. You have your pick of veggies, seafood and meats. Mix and match as you will. And now, the people--at Agneau Heureux/Happy Lamb, the staff is always welcoming, polite and even caring, however busy it gets. Special mention to Nicky, who personifies the perfect host by remembering repeat guests and kindly making sure that you are having a great dining experience. The crowd is cosmopolite and it's a cozy social dip with groups huddled around their pots. The décor is a cool reminder of the Mongolian roots of this type of hot pot and the restaurant is nestled in the heart of Chinatown. The price-quality ratio is out-of-this-world for families (a fantastic feast for under $100!!). This all-you-can-eat place is heaven on earth; hearty meals with...
