100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! I wish I could give 0 stars 😪

I usually like their ramen, but everything has been getting worse each time I go. Tonight I went to eat with 2 friends and we were more than disappointed with the service and the food quality. First, when we arrived, we were made to wait longer than we should have with only two tables of customers. The servers saw us but kept ignoring us until they either finished drying spoons or finished getting change for a table. Even after that they ignored us to do other things and then decided to greet us.

After about 10 minutes of putting down our menus and looking around, waiting for a server to take our order, we called on one of the servers, to which she asked if we were ready to order. What else would we be calling them for?

The server was okay when taking our order, but it wasn’t great. Just took the order and left.

We were also dissatisfied with the quality of the broth. We are all Japanese. My two friends were born and raised in Japan and know what decent ramen tastes like. This was far below the quality of basic ramen. The broth was more thin and oily than I’ve had, the past times I’ve eaten at Misoya. It tasted lacking in flavor. On top of that my noodles were undercooked and clumped together. I’m not sure if you can see it in my photo. The ramen was edible but below par.

Finally, although 1/3 of was still eating and the rest we’re talking, the server came and asked if we were ready for the bill. I thought people asked for the bill after everyone is finished eating, but I guess not here. We paid full price but believe it wasn’t worth the price. Also, one of us ordered a ramen combo that comes with a basic ramen, a small karaagedon and a coffee. The server who took our order asked if we wanted a drink with it, to which we replied « no » because it came with a coffee. We did not get the coffee and was charge for the individual ramen and karaagedon. When we asked the waitress about it, she explained that the combo is « just a collection of things and she asked if we wanted anything to drink and we said no ». Is it us? Did we get it wrong or is the server unknowledgeable about their menu? Because the combo did not give any option of drinks other than the coffee. So naturally we said « no » when she asked if we wanted anything to drink, knowing that the only option given was coffee.

Safe to say that none of us will never go back to this extreme disappointment of a Japanese...

Small menu but everything is delicious. Most of what they offer has intense savoury flavours, but I've never felt that it was too salty as some reviews say (except for the karaage fried chicken, once; and it was still mouth-wateringly tasty).

Entrée-wise, their karaage fried chicken is divine. Perfectly crispy batter that's slightly spiced and flavoured. Piping hot, tender, juicy, chicken. Smooth and creamy spicy mayo as a dip. My knees are getting weak just typing this out. I also recommend their crunchy tofu. It's served cold, covered with panko (making it crunchy) and bonito flakes (giving it this delicious smokey flavour). Comes with green onions and spicy mayo too. Yum. Their takoyaki has been hit or miss. First time they were chewy, juicy, savoury and just spot on in terms of flavour. Second time it came out soggy and a bit bland. Still pretty good. There's a chewy surprise inside the takoyaki. Their gyoza are okay.

Down to the actual miso. Their noodles are great. Chewy and tasteful, they get nicely coated with fat and absorb a lot of flavor. What's more is that they don't get soggy even after doggy-bagging and eating the rest the next day (makes for a delicious breakfast). Depending on which broth you'll get, soups will have pretty different tastes (all good) and thus different add-ons best suited for it. In general I'm a fan of the chasu pork (sometimes it comes out very fatty but still somehow bland; usually it adds so much flavour and is the perfect ratio of fat and meat) and the seaweed. I'm personally not a fan of the potato fries and the fried chicken in the soup. I prefer their "intense " and "savory" broths, but I think they changed their menus recently and may have changed the names. I'm not sure.

In any case, service is usually decent although waiting times can be long. Friendly staff. I don't like their chopsticks. Still one of my favourite ramen places...

Food is good but not excellent. I have ordered the Gold Kome Sha-shu deluxe with extra meat because i have ordered ramens before and the chasiu meat is always thin. But in this case the meat portions were good so extra meat wouldn't be needed. The broth disappointed me. It was stale and didn't have much taste. Eggs were runny and perfectly creamy. This place was highly recommended on a social media platform known as "Tiktok" So i decided to give it try. But unfortunately i won't go back. Heres why, I have ordered for takeout so basically just pick up the food and leave but when my husband paid the bill the cashier held our food and saw there was no tip so she asked us " No tip"? while still not handing us our food. We didn't want to be rude so we gave her extra tip in cash but that felt really rude and we were embarrassed. I have no problem tipping when im having a dine in inside the restaurant. But that felt oddly weird being forced to tip for takeout and that cashier also said that it is really important for us to tip her. So my point is this ended up extremely costy for a ramen, which means we paid 35$ for the total cost which included ( cost of the extra meat 3 pieces 5$+ tax, 1$ takeout fee??, + 5$ tip and the cost of the ramen itself.

Have you ever being charged for a take out fee $ before? Not me. So if you are looking to eat at this restaurant and you want takeout. You will need to pay them a tip and pay for that takeout fee. I am sad to write such a negative review among the good ones but if i don't someone else will go through it and won't understand.

I will also look further into that takeout fee because that...

Summary: Great place for Ramen. It was fairly busy at 8pm on a Tuesday night, but the service was good and once a table freed up I was promptly seated. I ordered a TanTan ramen with 5 toppings and an order of "Montreal takoyaki". The takoyaki arrived flat bottomed, looking deep fried in a bowl of dashi. The takoyaki themselves had a piece of octopus right in the middle and was surround by the batter. I found the batter rather bland and the dashi soaked the bonito on top rather quickly creating difficult to chew pieces of bonito. The ramen however, was a much better experience. My bowl arrived relatively quickly with all the toppings. The broth was thick and flavorful and seasoned well. The chashu had a good meat to fat ratio, but could have used marinating time. They did get a good slice and sear it though. The rest of the toppings met expectations but I wish they rinsed everything under hot water first as it cooled down my bowl of soup. The egg was also slightly overcooked for a Japanese soft boiled egg. The real star is their noodles which I was told arrives daily from California. (I'm assuming he meant that it arrives fresh) You could taste the alkali in the noodles and they had a good bite. Service was good, none of the staff seem rushed but they got to everyone. They were fluent in English as well which is a plus. Pricing is reasonable for what you get. All in all, one of the better ramen shops around. Just wish they caught the minor details and had better quality chopsticks. Overall, I would return again.

The owner of the restaurant is terrible. The ramen in the photo clearly comes with three pieces of chashu, which is exactly what I ordered. But just because I ordered takeout, the owner only gave me one piece of meat. The ramen shop is run by Chinese people. To be honest, although most Japanese ramen restaurants in Canada are run by Chinese, when it comes to tonkotsu ramen, the majority of them are fairly authentic because they use real pork bones to make the broth. But this particular shop definitely does not use bone-broth soup. I don’t know what they used to imitate tonkotsu broth, but when I put the soup in the fridge and took it out later, it had solidified into a bouncy, jelly-like substance. I used a spoon to dig into it and saw that the inside wasn’t even soup anymore — it looked like some kind of solid made from flour or something else. I was visiting Montreal as a tourist and normally live in another province. In my area, authentic Japanese tonkotsu ramen broth stays liquid when refrigerated. But the ramen I had at this shop didn’t taste like tonkotsu broth at all — the flavor was bad and completely off. In fact, they clearly don’t know how to make proper Japanese ramen and didn’t use pork bones for the soup. The owner just used some spices to fake the flavor. I really suggest people stop going there. With so many other Japanese restaurants nearby, you should try something truly authentic instead.
