Cozy little restaurant with really pretty window seating. BYOB option was what originally lead us to eat here. We were originally seated beside a group of a loud bachelorette party, but as soon as table cleared our waitress set us up by the window which was really thoughtful. She brought us an ice bucket for our bottle of white too! As starters we got the garlic bread and fried calamari with homemade marinara. The calamari were extremely tough and chewy and the marinara wasn’t flavourful and just tasted like tomato sauce (it was lacking classic marinara flavours garlic, oregano, etc.). The cheesy garlic bread was good aside from the bread itself. The bread seemed store-bought (you know the kind that comes in a kit at the grocery store? Thick and docked and looks like it can survive a world war). It was dense and just not good, but the herby garlic and cheese hid the bread enough to eat. The spicy oil was not very good. The oil tasted a little stale/rancid. As mains we had the Tortellini alla Gigi and that was great! The tortellini were cooked to perfection and the sauce was honestly really really good. A good portion too. Our waitress was super kind and attentive. Would definitely go back to try other pasta and take advantage of the BYOB, but I think that...
Read moreLet’s start off with the ambiance: it can’t be beat. This hole in the wall restaurant is like a cozy living room perfect for Sunday dinners. The music didn’t miss either: old, chill songs that matched perfectly with the aesthetic to create a lovely atmosphere.
Now for the food - I don’t think I’ve had better Italian food in Montréal, period. Everything gf tasted amazing, from the freshly baked pizza dough to the meatballs and my main dish: the tortellini à la Gigi. The tortellini was ever so slightly over cooked, but the mushroom rosé sauce more than made up for it. Every bite was a mini orgasm in my mouth - I will be coming back for a second round. My husband had the rigatoni bolognese, and found it rich, but not overly heavy.
The bring your own wine concept is definitely a winner, and we enjoyed a nice bottle of Merlot with our meal. Definitely stop by and give this place some love, as it is miles better than the dirty, disgusting, Italian restaurant across the street that would make grandmas roll over in their grave. In a beautiful contrast, Sorino’s just gets it. They do everything right, and I’m waiting for the day when they make it to Eater’s list of Montréal’s best...
Read moreI recently dined at an Italian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. From the warm and inviting atmosphere to the attentive and friendly service, everything was top-notch.
The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Italian dishes, each made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I especially enjoyed the handmade pasta and the delicious pizza, cooked to perfection in the wood-fired oven. The portions were generous, and the flavors were bold and satisfying.
The restaurant has a "bring your own wine" policy, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We were able to bring our favorite bottle of wine and enjoy it with our meal. The staff was accommodating and provided excellent service.
In short, I highly recommend this Italian restaurant for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for a romantic night out or a family gathering, you won't be disappointed. The "bring your own wine" option adds an extra layer of flexibility and enjoyment to the...
