We came here to celebrate two birthdays - my boyfriend and his best friend. I made reservations online and added that it was for a birthday, specifically noting that the "two men at the table are celebrating a birthday". When we arrived, I reminded them again, in case the notes didn't go through. She showed me before seating us that she had them. First off, our table was super sticky. We asked to move booths, and I'm glad we did as it was cleaner. We ordered 2 steaks (boyfriend and I) asking them both to be cooked rare. After all our food came out, including our friends and their kids, we finally got our steaks. To our surprise, they were cooked to a medium rare. Definitely not our preference and asked them to remake them. When they brought us new ones, the manager helped bring them to our table. Instead of explaining that at Lone Star they refer to a rare steak, like true rare steak, as blue-rare so we know how to order it correctly next time, she was rude about it. "I cut into both your steaks, one was medium cooked and the other was our version of rare. Next time order Blue-Rare if you want rare. I'll take these off the bill, but know for next time". First of all blue rare isn't a known steak preference in Canada. I've never been to a high end steak house whereas they refer to rare steak as blue rare. Secondly, how dare you judge my personal preference on my steak. If I feel like it's cooked too much, then it's not rare and not something I'll enjoy. It was cooked, learn the difference. Thirdly, learn how to speak in a professional tone of voice - informing us instead of getting mad that you had to waste meat, having to take it off our bill wasn't the right choice. Had it been cooked properly to begin with, we wouldn't have complained. Also, when someone is requesting rare steak, MENTION your choices instead of leaving it for customers as a surprise to find out that it isn't cooked to their preference when it arrives. Another big disappointment was having to ask yet again if they were going to do anything ie. sing for the birthdays. Way to ruin our night out! If it wasn't for the fact that it's our best friend's favourite restaurant, we would have gone elsewhere. I've never experienced this ever at any other location. Horrible service! We were there for over 2 hours, which is extreme in my...
Read moreWell 6 years ago I did a review which basically discussed the terrible service. After 6 years I decided to visit the Oakville restaurant, and guess what? Nothing has changed.
3 of us arrived around 6pm for dinner. We were seated promptly and after maybe 15 minutes someone came to get our drink order. We had already decided what to order and placed our orders as well.
Took 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive then 10 minutes for our Queso and chips.
Another 15 minutes for our meals.
After we were served not once did anyone check on us. We finished our food which was good. Fajitas are the best here.
Finally we were asked if we wanted desserts. Nobody cleared our table and all our dirty dishes and fajitas remains were still there.
10 minutes for desserts to arrive and we all ordered deep fried ice cream. Expecting typical cinnamon coated deep fried ice cream, I was very disappointed. These are terrible. Rolled in cornflakes, no cinnamon at all and we couldn't even finish them.
Finally we were asked if we were done and how we liked the ice cream. I told them the truth and requested the bill
20, yes 20 minutes later The bill arrived. Out table was still not cleared.
It was much higher than expected but never looked too closely at it until I went to the car. I was overcharged more than $30 for something we did not order.
I went in and the manager went to confirm we did not order the item in question. He then questioned me on the shape of the plate our food was served on which made me wonder if he did not believe me and if the waitress said we had ordered that item.
Finally a refund for what I was overcharged was issued and that we were shorted but I wasn't gonna argue over a couple dollars.
The manager said he would make things right and issue a gift card. I am waiting for this.
I will not go back unless he does indeed issue a gift card and then will give them another chance but nothing yet.
Honestly one of the worst $200 meals I've ever had
I will update this review if we go back with...
Read moreI want to give this restaurant five stars because my family and I go here often and we always enjoy their margaritas and the food (the enchiladads, the burgers, and the fajitas of course!). However, we went here yesterday for Father's Day dinner and made a reservation for the four of us at 5:00 pm, which was right when a lot of others began coming in.
We requested a table instead of a booth if possible and were told yes. After waiting almost 10 minutes to be seated, we were placed in a booth unfortunately (we have a justified reason why we requested a table) but we understood that it was really busy and maybe after everyone else had come in, a table wouldn't be possible anymore.
We ordered our usual and the food came out room temperature but at least it wasn't cold. What was most disappointing was the meal my dad ordered, which was the chicken and rib with fries. The portion of the chicken and the ribs were so small! There were more fries on the plate than the chicken and the ribs (see photo). We knew the restaurant would be busy but we were hoping they would be a bit more prepared. Again, this is usually a great restaurant and I do recommend to go here. Perhaps, just don't go on a day that will likely be more busy than usual.
I also want to point out a man that was walking around in a light blue dress shirt. I can only assume he was a manager of some sort but honestly, he was just pacing the restaurant. I have worked in the restaurant industry and was surprised at how little work this manager was doing- if he even is the manager. One thing is for certain, he definitely got his steps in that day.
To end on a positive note, Santana is a great server and the taller gentleman with the blonde curly hair also provides excellent service. The last time we went before Father's Day, Citrus was just starting out as a server and she was...
