Niko Sushi — Restaurant in Ontario

I’ve given this place far too many chances, and I’m officially done. As a vegan, I always make it a point to order clearly labeled vegan rolls and ask staff to be mindful of cross-contamination. Despite this, I’ve repeatedly witnessed staff handle fish and then immediately touch my food without changing gloves something that makes me incredibly uncomfortable and goes against my dietary choices.

Tonight was the final straw. I arrived at 7:45 p.m., thinking I had time to place a quick order before they closed at 8:00. Instead, I was met with one of the rudest customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time. A girl at the counter curtly told me they were closed and had already shut off the machine no apology, no explanation, not even basic courtesy. She wouldn’t make eye contact and walked away mid-conversation.

I’ve tried to support this spot despite past issues, but between the poor handling of vegan orders and now this unacceptable behavior, I can no longer justify coming back. I’m officially boycotting this place and would not recommend it to anyone who values respectful service or has dietary...

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would in a heartbeat. Last weekend I ordered sushi through Skip the Dishes from them, and when it arrived half of my order was missing. As such, I called the restaurant and they told me my Skip the Dishes driver probably ate some and to request a refund on Skip's app. So...I did. Then 3 days later the manager of Niko Sushi called my cell phone to scold me about requesting the refund...saying she's "disappointed in me," that she "can not afford to pay her employees now because of this," and that it was "not her problem that half of my order was missing." I'm usually a regular customer and always came here when I would shop at the mall. Ordered COOKED sushi and got severely sick!! I brushed it away at first thinking "no it can't be from anything cooked unless it's unsanitary" It goes to show you that there is cross-contamination, which is caused by surfaces that are not cleaned after contact. There were several others who have stated that they experienced discoloured fish in their sushi and got sick as a result from this place. The sushi is yummy but I don't recommend if you want to risk getting sick. It's best to get sushi from a separate sushi restaurant than fast food that has better sanitary restrictions.
