I should've walked out as soon as I walked in, but I gave the place the benefit of the doubt. My entire experience was bad.
I ordered a chicken shawarma and a gyro at first. The guy asked what I wanted, picked up the tongs and put everything on. The sandwich then fell apart as soon as he was about to grill it, so he shoved his fingers in there to put it all back in and then toasted it. I was kind of grossed out about it, so I ordered a poutine because I wasnt going to eat the shawarma after that.
He started the gyro. Asked what I wanted. I asked for tzatziki. He couldnt find it at first. It was on the counter top (assumingly ready to toss and remake). He opened it and stirred it up and then smelled it, had a weird look on his face and then smeared it across the pita anyways. It was extremely watery and my assumption was right, it was spoiled. (What made the tzatziki problem worse, is that I am pretty sure the other worker there knew it was spoiled and they were talking about it while I was waiting)
So, both the shawarma and gyro are out of the question now, I cant wait for my poutine. I paid for my order, left the store and went home.
This was my poutine. Thick and chunky throughout.
I do not recommend going to this place. It was a complete waste of...
Read moreAbsolutely awful place! Food is terrible and so is service. We we're in town this week for a major championship and they were not prepared for the extra people. My friend stopped by to order us lunch. She specifically asked for the chicken shawarma plate with out pita and white rice. The lady working there couldn't figure it out. My friend had to vorrcor what she was making. And then when I received it it was a disaster. She had put the chicken in a different container on top of a pita! And then overloaded the rice with garlic sauce it was coming out the container. I'm gluten intolerant. I started eating the food to find out the frickin rice had noodles in it!!! What the hell??? They need to be telling people if the rice has has noodles in it! And if someone is asking for no pita it could be because of an allergy. They have no care on the world for their customers and allergies. Do NOT go thete. The food isn't that great either. I've had better shawarma. Go to Babbaz...
Read moreOthers have said best in Windsor for the genre and I agree. The more you get to know the owner by frequenting for food, the larger the portions get and the lower the price seems to get. I started to tip more and more just to even things out! When I lived downtown this was my #1 go to - it basically helped me survive the rigors of grad school. Fresh ingredients, and like others have said the owner is just super awesome and friendly. I prefer the Chicken Schwarma with the meat cooked a little extra on the grill, garlic spread, all the veggies except peppers, as much of the tabouli as they can/will spare (so good), and ask for them to crisp the pita shell in their machine a little extra before serving. Can't go wrong with this. It's fast, the same price or less than McDonalds, tastes infinitely better, is respectively much healthier, and amasses to about the same amount of food (certain not empty calories like the former though). Thanks for all...
