TERRIBLE EXPRERİENCE!!!! I’m in shock!!
We arrived at Windsor Hilton on the night of December 25th after traveling from Toronto for a one-night stay. During check-in, the hotel itself attempted to overcharge us for parking. Despite seeing that the daily parking rate was actually $12, they provided a card and charged $70, claiming it was a discounted rate with a public parking agreement. When I questioned this discrepancy, they admitted to trying to deceive me and acknowledged that public parking would indeed be more cost-effective. They assured me of a refund.
While booking, I had requested a front room with a Detroit view. At check-in, I was informed that this came with an additional $80 charge, which the hotel reduced to $20. Although the hotel was quiet and the room already vacant, it seemed their system was designed to exploit guests. I reluctantly agreed to the extra charge for the Detroit view, which turned out to be obscured by heavy fog.
Moreover, the room lacked slippers – an essential amenity in a luxury hotel. The most disappointing aspect was that we essentially went hungry. Having booked a room with breakfast included until 11 am, we were informed at check-in that it ended at 10:30 am. Despite waking up early, there was no breakfast service; they had already packed up for New Year's preparations, as explained by an employee. This was not my problem; I had paid for the service and the employee failed to inform us.
When I approached the front desk, the staff seemed oblivious to the situation. They claimed they had no authority to address the issue and suggested waiting for the manager who would arrive at 12:30 pm. This was absurd – I shouldn't have to wait two hours while hungry. The receptionist suggested the manager might call me for a possible breakfast refund.
Unsatisfied with this proposal, I insisted on immediate action. I even suggested paying for a Christmas brunch, but the staff claimed they couldn't offer different prices. They seemed entirely unaware of the buffet options listed on their own Christmas brunch sign, with prices ranging from $19.90 to $48. The employee's ignorance was shocking and unacceptable.
In conclusion, the Hilton Windsor experience was a complete disaster. The staff's lack of knowledge and service-oriented approach is appalling. I will share my dissatisfaction widely, including on Canadian complaint platforms. Hilton Windsor, I'm unsure how you plan to rectify...
Read moreThis hotel is a total scam. I accidentally booked the wrong hotel, thinking it was the DoubleTree by Hilton in Detroit, but ended up with a reservation at the DoubleTree by Hilton Windsor in Canada. I realized my mistake within 30 minutes and immediately called the hotel to cancel, but they refused to refund me, even though I never stayed there. Even after Hilton representatives and the booking site I used (trip.com) tried to assist, the hotel told everyone to get lost and refused to cooperate. These people are just greedy and shameless—they took my money and kept talking about some contract. I find this completely unacceptable. If you haven’t used the service, a decent business should refund your money. Stay away from these crooks!
I’ve heard of similar situations happening at this hotel before. One woman booked a room with her child, made a simple mistake with the dates, and even though she stayed at the same hotel, they refused to change the booking. She ended up losing her money and had to pay for another reservation. This level of greed is unbelievable, as if they’re running some operation in a third-world country, not Canada. It’s like they can’t decide if they’re scamming people for $500 or $170—either way, they act like they desperately need the money or are just incredibly greedy.
I believe this isn’t the first time this hotel has pulled this trick. The name of the hotel doesn’t clearly state that it’s in Canada, and when you search using Google, it shows up with descriptions talking about a beautiful view of downtown Detroit. The hotel name should clearly mention that it’s in Canada, especially considering how close the two countries are. As someone from Europe, I couldn’t imagine that just across the road might be a whole different country. This is misleading and unprofessional, and they should be transparent about their location. They should be ashamed of themselves for ruining their reputation over a mere $175—cheap and greedy, showing no understanding or compassion. I believe this is outright theft, taking money from someone who didn’t even stay at the hotel. I will be filing a complaint with higher authorities because people like this deserve to be punished for...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Windsor, Ontario, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming front-desk staff. They were incredibly supportive, efficiently handling my check-in while also taking the time to answer all my questions about local attractions and dining options. Their friendly demeanour set a positive tone for the rest of my stay.
The room I stayed in was nothing short of excellent. It was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed with modern decor that exuded a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, adorned with high-quality linens and plenty of plush pillows, ensuring a restful night's sleep. I also appreciated the little touches, like the complimentary bottled water and the coffee and tea station, which made me feel right at home.
Housekeeping was satisfactory, keeping the room tidy and replenishing essentials daily. While they met all the basic expectations, a bit more attention to detail would have been appreciated—for instance, organizing personal items or providing extra toiletries without request. However, this was a minor point in an otherwise delightful stay.
Location-wise, the DoubleTree by Hilton is ideally situated on the Windsor waterfront over looking the Detroit skyline. It's close to many of Windsor's key attractions, making it easy to explore the city. Whether you're interested in visiting the beautiful waterfront, exploring local museums, or indulging in shopping, everything is just a short distance away. The hotel also offers ample parking space, which was a significant convenience.
Overall my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Windsor, Ontario, was exceptional. The combination of a comfortable and well-appointed room, excellent room service, and supportive front-desk staff made for an outstanding experience. While housekeeping was just okay, it did not overshadow the overall quality of my stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Windsor and am already looking forward to my next visit. The team at DoubleTree truly knows how to make their guests feel valued...
