I hate to leave bad reviews but the interaction I had today at the duty free was like a bad comedy sketch. Went here to quickly get money before crossing. Never again. The ATM wasn’t working so we asked an employee for help. The woman working, Patti, had to be one of the rudest and most unhelpful customer service workers I have ever encountered in my life. Instead of being bothered to help all she did was keep repeating “well the machine worked fine all day” as if we’re the reason it suddenly stopped working. Might I add me and my husband tried each of our cards multiple times with no luck and she still kept repeating “well it was working fine before” Then she would snobbishly and sarcastically read the directions on the screen to us as if we’re totally stupid and hadn’t been trying on our own to get it to work for the prior 10 minutes. Once again, making us feel like we’re at fault somehow for an ATM having technical difficulties. Finally she huffed, puffed and rolled her eyes about the possibility of having to restart the machine, again as if we were some big inconvenience and it was our fault. I was born and raised in the area, traveling the Detroit-Windsor border for most of my life. Therefore, I’ve had occasion to visit this store at times. It seems possible that the ownership and/or management was different at those times.

I have never, even as a Black woman, been followed around a store and personally monitored as much as yesterday. I suppose the man was the manager or owner of the store. Every area of the store I went to, he appeared and was obviously watching my movements.

Tip: There was one other vehicle in your parking lot when we visited. Harassment of the very few customers in the store isn’t necessary. You already have cameras and monitors boldly displayed throughout your business. Relax and simply report any obvious theft to the police. IF found guilty the perpetrator would likely have trouble navigating the border indefinitely.

I’m not one for making a bad review unless I have a problem that does not get resolved correctly. Over the weekend I wanted to purchase a watch from the store and as the lady was putting the watch in the box and setting the time for me we both realized the battery was dead. With that being the only one they had in stock we couldn’t replace it with a different one and the lady kindly offered me a discount on the watch I wanted. But, the discount wasn’t enough for me to buy the watch because I didn’t know if the main cause of the watch not working was the battery and I live over an hour away so it wasn’t worth it to me. So, I asked if they could give a little bigger of a discount and the lady went and asked her manager. The manager came back and offered me a discount lower than the lady offered me before.
