A while back I posted a 5 star review for this place; we had been going for a long time and previously loved their Tuesday night trivia, especially in the summertime. I think that something happened in May where they completely changed their staff and management, which is fine and this happens at business sometimes. However, with this a lot of other things changed. For example, in the past we had always called ahead to reserve a table for trivia. When management changed, we continued to call to put in our reservation, only to find the table had been given away when we arrived that night. We were very much on time, so it couldn't have been because we'd arrived too late. I think they just never reserved it in the first place. It happened multiple times, and friends of ours said they'd experienced the same issue. Additionally, the types and quality of the trivia questions completely changed - and this isn't to bash Riley, the host, because we really love Riley! I think he's a great host, and his questions pre-management switch were good. I kind of think that it was the new management that told him to change up the question types because they were too difficult or something. The issue is, now we find the categories a bit too generalized and little boring. For example, I don't want to play a trivia all about pop culture but from different decades - instead I am looking for diversity in categories so that each person from our team has a unique contribution to get us a win. My last issue was that ya'll stopped serving food, but I understand that that's a temporary thing with the kitchen being updated.
TLDR, we're not the biggest fan of the new management and the trivia isn't what it used to be. Also they stopped serving our favorite beer on tap...

Walking into "Something in the Water," you immediately get the sense that you've stumbled upon a genuinely cool, laid-back hangout. It’s the perfect blend of a craft beer haven and a top-tier taqueria, a combination that, as it turns out, is absolutely magical.
The drinks menu is extensive, featuring a rotating cast of fantastic local brews. If you're overwhelmed, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. The tacos we ordered were a mix of the birria and baja fish, and every single bite was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The tortillas were soft and the fillings were generous. This is seriously elevated street food.
The biggest highlight of our evening, however, was our server, Lura. From the moment she approached our table, her friendly demeanor and great sense of humor made us feel completely at ease. She was truly accommodating, patiently guiding us through the menu and making excellent recommendations for both tacos and beer pairings. I had a minor request for an off-menu adjustment to my order, and she handled it with a genuine smile and made sure it was perfect. More than just efficient, Lura was genuinely funny, sharing a quick, witty comment that had our whole table laughing. She elevated what was already a great meal into an exceptional dining experience.
If you're looking for fantastic tacos, a great beer selection, and service that makes you feel like a valued regular from your first visit, you need to check out "Something in the Water." Also, don't forget to ask for Lura,...
Read moreStumbled upon this place en route to another location. Needless to say, we never made it to our original destination. Matt is an informative and delightful bartender. He really took time to figure out the type of beer my partner likes and matched it as closely as possible with one they had available. He even recommended cocktails for me - Rumrunner and Caribbean Hurricane - which were both delicious! We had such a nice time that we bought merch and even signed up for the Curious Club. The following night, we came back for Matt's Show as he's also a musician. We had more drinks - I tried and liked the Malibu Spritz and my partner had another pint of the Farm-to-Glass and pretzels. Fresh, soft, just the right amount of salt with mustard on the side. Chef's kiss! This little gem is a must visit in Kingston. We'll definitely be back when we're in town again. And, if you're lucky, maybe you'll catch a show by...
