Place has gone downhill in a major way.
Staff that are not professional in workplace (talking bad about their colleague in their own language). I have no problem with diversity but please keep your conversation work appropriate and not make fun of your colleague in a language he doesnt understand. I understood what was being said because i speak their language and it was embarrassing. This WAS one of the most amazing places to go to but sadly not anymore.
Train staff better on how to talk to customers. Some of us have been supporting and eating at this restaurant long before new staff was hired. Its the staffs duty to EXPLAIN to customers. Instead they speak in a way as if im being an inconvenience. They wont let you customize your burgers how you want. I was rudely told by the supervisor "what you see on the board is what we have". Staff doesnt care about customer experience. I did not take the training to work there so I dont know what the "new random changes" are with BFF. Employees should take ownership and explain things properly and set correct expectations
Onion rings are different now. Thicker and soggy and had a weird after taste. Burger meat quality has gone down as well, That too had a weird after taste.
Nashville chicken burger was amazing and fries still maintained their quality. Only good thing about this experience was their Nashville burger.
Bottom line: this new bff has lost what once made it unique: great customer experience focus. We use to be able to customize our burgers, pay extra for the toppings, served with great attitude and walk out happy. There are new burger joints in Otttawa that still embody this spirit. Sadly, i will no longer think of bff as my go to or even recommend them.
Change the work culuture first. Staff shouldnt be talking ill about their colleague especially when you dont have the courage to say it in a language he understands. He was working hard and only guy on the grill and i wish i could tell him what was being said behind his back by his supervisor. Both supervisor and another girl working there were giggling, talking in punjabi/hindi and making fun of the poor guy. Looked like classic bullying. Never seen this work culture in bff. If you lack respect with your own colleagues, then im worried what other customers may be facing. Be kind, responsible and focus on customer experience. I wouldnt care about writing a review at all but its sad to see what this place has turned into vs. What...
Read moreI wish I could leave a good review because when everything is done well, the food here is really good. The problem is, it's often not done well. The quality of food is unacceptably variable between orders. Sometimes the food tastes amazing, other times it's really lacking. One time when we ordered the elegant fries, the parmesan was raw and not melted. Sometimes the same type of fries are excessively spicy and other times just the right amount of spiciness. More recently when we ordered the lettuce wrap, the burger was soaking in water and was covered in small pieces of lettuce when normally with a lettuce wrap the burger is sufficiently dry and has full leaves around it. We ordered the Nashville hot fries recently and it had a very strange and old aftertaste to it. I didn't want to finish them because they seemed a bit off. Also the gluten free bun used to taste great but now it has a strange sweet, cake-like aftertaste. Sometimes they forget important toppings and while this may seem minor, the prices for the fries are very high so we should at least get everything we paid for. The food is essentially expensive fast food and so at the very least the quality should be consistently good. Also many times when we order, they forget things. This doesn't just happen once, it happens often enough that when we order here we always quickly check to make sure everything has been included. This place could be good, but there is such variability between orders that it has become unacceptable, especially when the prices are so high. We're always charged full price, so the food should at least be adequate and not...
Read moreI’ve been going to BFF for a couple of years now and they never disappoint. The staff are always friendly and the restaurant and cook/prep area are clean and in full view from the entrance/dining area. The food is always fresh and tasty. They only use fresh ground beef and their patties are never frozen.
My wife saw their most recent post on Instagram and we realized that they were bringing back their burger/poutine of the month specials. Their menu was downsized with the COVID-19 pandemic, so I was really excited to see them bring back these awesome burgers/poutines.
The January 2021 special is the perogie burger and perogie poutine - my wife’s favourite - and they are amazing! The perogies add a different spin to the poutine and it’s refreshing from just having boring old fries. The gravy compliments the perogies well and the cheddar, beef bacon, sour cream and green onions bring the whole thing together. It’s like having a souped-up baked potato, but better. Side note, always make sure that you get beef bacon with whatever burger you get. Thank me later! The burger has fresh ground beef, sour cream, cheddar, mashed potatoes and caramelized onions and it might sound weird to have mashed potatoes on your burger, but it works, especially with the caramelized onions.
Their servings are generous. My wife and I usually get a burger each and share one poutine and that’s more than enough food for two people. I know that people might find them a bit pricey, but the fact that everything is halal and fresh gives justification for that.
I can’t wait to see what next month’s duo will be! I’ll be...
