Been to the Bushwakker many times over the years. Majority of the time , it’s done enough for me to go back, but maybe it’s just because I haven’t tried anywhere else ? Overall , I would say the service is “ efficient “ over friendly. It seems with an older serving staff, they almost bring their past serving experiences with them to your table. IE this week : “ do you have any mead by the glass this time ? “ Answer , an abrupt “no” . I would rather have experienced servers than lame ditzy young ones, but I find the majority of the servers here, it’s about them, and not making your experience better.
The food is better than any other pub you will find, desserts are always off the chart, amazing, and my wife loves the bison burger. Last time before the football game, we were there super early , maybe 5 tables, and my pizza came out doughy, however, due to the abruptness of our server, I didn’t bother complaining.
The beer is also seeming a little “ meh “ to me. Travelling for work, I hit every craft brewery place in Canada, and this one just seems like they aren’t evolving, after visiting, Quidi Vidi, Garrisons, Beaus , Phillips etc ……..kind of like, we were first , and if it’s not broke don’t fix it, our regulars love it.
Most likely try somewhere else next time. Wow factor is...
Read moreFor $26.59, you can get a boar burger with a side of fries at @bushwakkerbrewpub . That’s before tip but with taxes included.
Is the burger expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? Not really. The bun was fresh and tasty, the boar burger was decent. However the patty literally was falling apart as I ate it. One would think maybe that’s because of the type of meat? However my coworker’s beef patty with his briar burger was also falling apart. He actually ate his burger with a fork and knife while I used my hands to pick up the fallen pieces.
The patty itself needed more salt, less hand work and potentially more egg yolk to keep it together. And possibly, a night in the refrigerator to solidify the patty shape. What was really delicious was the fire-roasted pepper relish. That had the most flavour. The patty had some flavour, although I could barely tell it was boar.
The fries were awesome! I appreciate the use of seasonings along with the white and malt vinegar on the table. The sheer size of the mound of fries was appreciated as well.
I probably wouldn’t order a burger from here again unless they fix their patties. Especially not for that price. So for $26.59 ish you get to eat a burger with a...
Read moreEdit to my original review: I now try to make the trip out here from Winnipeg at least once every summer. The boar burger is THAT GOOD. On my most recent visit, I also tried the spinach salad - AMAZING - and the pulled pork apple pizza, also fantastic. I'm already planning my next trip to Regina!
I was recently in Regina on a work trip for the first time and I was looking for a local place to try, after reading good things about Bushwakker and taking a look at the menu, it was decided.
I came specifically for the Wild Boar burger and was not disappointed! The patty was sooo flavorful and not at all gamey. I wasn't sure what to expect but I loved it and I'm looking forward to having it again the next time I'm in town.
I also took an order of the pecan pie back to my hotel and was blown away by how delicious it was. The pie itself AND the whipped cream. I'm not sure if the cream was homemade but it definitely tasted like it was!
Customer service was great, even with it being a busy evening. Parking was a bit hard to find. I definitely can't wait to come...
