Please be aware that this restaurant may have potential food safety issues.
Today, I ordered a curry beef brisket here, and halfway through my meal, I found a piece of a food label mixed into the dish. I contacted the restaurant right away, but when I brought the food back to show the owner, he rudely offered me only a partial refund and told me to "go to the police" if I had any further complaints.
While this might seem like a small issue, it raises big questions about their food safety practices and customer service attitude. I will never visit this restaurant again.
Let me clarify: picture 1 and 2 show the label I discovered when I first opened the container. Initially, we brushed it off, thinking it might just be an accidental oversight by the restaurant. However, as we were nearly finished eating, we were completely shocked to find another label at the bottom of the curry soup. As the picture 3, shows it’s clear that this label had been simmering in the curry for quite a long time. As you can see in picture 4, there are the labels I found at two different times.
The incidents like this are absolutely appalling to customers and completely ruin any desire to ever order from your restaurant again. This isn’t something your chef can resond with “mistakes happen” or “it’s not a big deal.”
By the way, this is not about whether you should refund me the full amount—I don’t care about the 15 dollars. It’s about the attitude your chef showed after personally admitting it was his mistake. He acted like a bully after I said you should give me full refund, shouting that we should go to the police, as if he didn’t care and had done nothing wrong. If you have surveillance in your restaurant, I suggest you take a look at his reaction during that moment. :)
If you think something like this is not a big deal, I can’t even imagine how you’d respond if a customer found something even more disgusting in your food, like a cigarette butt.
It is shameless that after an incident like this, you still insist there’s nothing wrong...
Read moreI like to think they’re called Good Fortune Kitchen because that’s what anyone that tastes their food gets. Heck, I can’t say enough good things about them! Without a doubt, the BEST Chinese food I have had in all of Saskatchewan. Everything we’ve had from their menu is beyond stellar and we’ll be exclusively ordering from here from now on. The Cantonese Chow mein is to die for, as is their ginger beef and lemon chicken. Their chicken fried rice has big chunks of white and dark meat in it and has enough flavour that you don’t need a drop of soy sauce. The batter on their chicken balls and shrimp is crispy and doesn’t overshadow the meat inside. None of it is greasy or heavy and you can tell a lot of love goes into the food the cook makes. The prices are completely reasonable for the portions and quality and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you can pick your dishes in the dinner combos. Please be kind and understanding when ordering as they’re quite busy (for obvious reasons) and their cook also does any deliveries. Would recommend doing pick up out of respect for the chef because that’s a lot for one person to balance! Highly recommend Good Fortune Kitchen to anyone wanting delicious food. Seriously, this place is the BEST.
Edit in response to the owner: No inconvenience! I’m saddened to know Regina will lose such an incredible restaurant gem, but I wish your chef nothing but good luck and safe travels on his return to Hong Kong. Please know that you really were and are the best Regina...
Read moreI noticed that many comments have praised the achievements of the chef. However, based on my personal experience yesterday, I can say that the restaurant might have some safety issues, and the chef may have some racist tendencies. He was extremely rude and refused to communicate with us after we found the tag stickers inside the dish. We wanted to have a constructive conversation with him to resolve the issue and were hoping for a proper response. Instead, he shouted that he would call the police, ran to the kitchen, and left us standing at the front desk. It was clear that he showed no respect for his customers.
Furthermore, from the reply of your manager, I can tell that the chef did not tell the truth, as he completely refused to communicate with us. I believe that if someone in the service industry fails to show even the most basic level of respect, no matter how delicious their food is or how many achievements they have, they won’t attract more customers—unless they hold specific racist attitudes toward Chinese customers and choose to treat them rudely.
Lastly, my friends and I felt deeply upset by what happened yesterday, as well as by the manager’s response to our review on Google Maps. This experience has caused us significant emotional distress and has left us...
