I am genuinely surprised by the high ratings for this restaurant, as my experience was unfortunately unpleasant. I visited on a Saturday, and although the posted closing time is 6 PM, I arrived around 4:45 PM and was not helped until after 5 PM. The restaurant was only half full, but despite waiting patiently in line (behind a few people picking up takeout), no one acknowledged me even after the line cleared.
I was the only customer standing at the counter, and when I made polite eye contact with one of the staff — a lady with glasses, wearing her hair in a ponytail — I asked kindly if she could take my order. She ignored me, turned to her manager, and asked, “Can we take her order?” The manager nodded, and only then did she proceed. By that point, it was barely 5 PM — still a full hour before closing.
I ordered a wrap and a platter. While other tables seated after me received their water and cutlery, I did not receive any until I had to flag down the same cashier again. Still, I stayed friendly — I smiled and said “thank you” when she brought them over, but she walked away without even a nod or “you’re welcome.”
When I went up to pay around 5:30 PM, I tried to make light conversation, smiling and asking, “Don’t you guys close at 6? Why is the kitchen already closed — must’ve been a busy day!” She just looked at me, then turned away and walked straight into the kitchen without a word.
I understand that everyone has off days, and I truly tried to be patient and pleasant, but this interaction left a really poor impression. Customer service plays such a big role in the dining experience — even when the food is decent, it is difficult to enjoy it when treated so dismissively. I hope management addresses this, because one staff member’s attitude can really tarnish an otherwise good...
Read moreDaddy’s Grill in Richmond was so frustrating that I feel people need to be warned. This place is incredibly overrated, and the way it’s run is honestly disturbing.
Let’s start with the service. When you order, they’ll tell you the wait time is around 20 minutes — but be prepared to sit around for over an hour. There’s absolutely no respect for people’s time, and they seem to have no proper system in place. What’s even worse is the way Shawn, the owner, manages the restaurant. It’s clear he prioritizes and fast-tracks customers who speak the same language as him, while others are left waiting and overlooked. That kind of favoritism is not only unprofessional — it’s offensive.
Behind the scenes, things are even more troubling. Shawn treats his staff terribly. You can see it in the way he speaks to them — no respect, no appreciation, just constant pressure and negativity. It’s uncomfortable to witness, and I can only imagine how toxic it must be to actually work there.
Another huge red flag: they actively delete bad reviews. That’s why the ratings look better than they should — any critical feedback gets removed while only the glowing reviews are left up. It’s dishonest and manipulative.
As for the food? Totally overhyped. The prices are outrageous — you’re being charged an arm and a leg for dishes that are mediocre at best. There are plenty of other spots in Richmond with better food, better prices, and way better service.
I rarely say this, but don’t waste your time or money here. Between the poor treatment of customers, the mistreatment of staff, and the shady handling of online feedback, this place is a major...
Read moreToday I was in Daddy’s house and this time with family! I already talked about unique and great taste of their kebabs and now want to add more to that! Let’s’ start introducing my family:
My mother is very strict about foods and their ingredients (there is always a true reason). The Sister in law and her husband are just moved and settled to Vancouver and they owned a resturant in Toronto. They are picky with taste and quality as they used to be in this business. And then the father in law! My wife say he is a master in kebab Koubideh, but I never tasted! It is three months that they are here and I took them different places and there were always someone somehow not happy! After a while, a long while, and lots of stories and then moving back from Sunshine Coast, I was very busy and it was my second visit to Daddy!
Today it was my plan to go there, to Daddy’s Grill! And then I reminded anyone who wants to joint me!
And then! It was good! Great! And as I always say these men know what they do! They made an original kebab that even in it is good and great in its in origins.
They are generous to provide a good service and they are generous to make a good and delicious kebabs.
It is a little far! But will be there soon.
Cheers!
