If you are Chinese don’t eat there.
I was there with my husband for lunch. When we entered the restaurant you can see that the owner wasn’t happy to have us. A long story short it was a complete nightmare experience all the way. The service was really terrible, he didn’t give us water even we asked for three times and of course he gave us tea because he can charges us. I accidentally dropped the Soy Sauce Kocho (small bowl for soy sauce) and broke it. I apologized and brought him the broken pieces.
After my husband paid for the food he realized $5 charge for the Soy Sauce Kocho. He told him that he should have told us before he charged us. (We were willing to pay) and we already gave him the big tips because of that. My husband told him we will pay him $5 for that but we don’t want to pay him tip anymore. So we wanted to refund the whole payment transaction so we can re-pay him without the tip. Of course he refused to do that. When my husband keep asking for refunding he started to filming us on his phone lol
Then he mentioned something like “you Chinese always do this…..” I could not believe what I was hearing. (I’m Korean by the way) I told him “what make you think I’m Chinese!” Then he said “don’t lie to me. You are Chinese.”
Then I started speaking Korean to him (turned out he is Korean too lol) then he changed his attitude right away and saying he did all that because he thought we were Chinese. This didn’t make me feel better because I was already treated terribly. I was more upset that he would treat someone like this because of racial background. If he gave us good service and pay attention to our table (we were the only customers) instead of only come by to drop the food to our table he probably heard me speaking Korean.
During our lunch we were super nice to him even we were very unhappy about his service and he’s unpleasant mood. He was VERY rude and he wasn’t shy about showing us that we weren’t welcome there.
On top of all these the food was awful as well. California roll was more like “cucumber roll”. Udon has no flavour. I ordered these because you normally can’t go wrong with these.
I just read reviews before write mine and noticed many people felt he was rude. You must have some kind of racial background that he doesn’t like. And I wished I read the reviews before we went there. He deserve...
Read moreI came to this restaurant yesterday with a friend for lunch and was absolutely mortified and disgusted at what happened while we were there. We noticed there wasn't much on the menu so we politely asked if there was an All You Can Eat sushi restaurant near by. Im vegan so I appreciate more veg-friendly options and there wasn't so much as a spring roll on this menu. The woman serving us laughed and told us we would need to go to Toronto or another "big city" to find an all you can eat sushi restaurant (ps we found one passing through Collingwood the next day...yes, the same small town Kikaku is in). So anyway, no big deal, we stayed and made the best of it. I'll just break this down in point form because it'll be quicker: Food was barely meh (my avocado/cucumber roll was literally 99% cucumber...real nice guys) After our plates, napkins, and chopsticks were dropped off at our table by another staff, our server came over and touched every single item with her bare hands just to move them closer to us? Bare hands. No gloves. & yes the global pandemic is still happening. This alone nearly made me get up and leave. Next, while we were eating our salads/soups, she swung on by again to move everything around so she could clean our table with a wet, dirty rag. Right under our noses, while we were eating. Next, she brought over the germ-covered customer sign-in pen and piece of paper touched by a million people entering the restaurant, and dropped it right in front of us on the table to sign. We were so in shock over the blatant disregard for infection control and lack of sanitary measures. Honestly it's just cleanliness 101 really, and this place would have been a fail BEFORE the pandemic happened. Super irresponsible as restaurant owners and just straight up disgusting. Oh and yes you bet she came over again, this time with our mains, and attempted to touch all of our food/cutlery AGAIN to move stuff out of the way. I had to explicitly ask her to please stop touching everything. I've never even had to do that pre-COVID. Mind = blown all over the place.
Do not come eat here unless you enjoy mediocre sushi, no options, and a side helping of COVID. The only thing I enjoyed was that at the very least there was no one else in the restaurant. Honestly I can see...
Read morewish I could give a zero star . (2018.11.14: maybe negative)
2018.11.14 some response to their reply: I didn’t notice your reply, I wish I could response earlier when I still remember it clearly . There are a few points and questions I wanna make here. I’m not that kind of person who throw bad reviews for minor problems, and am I the only one who made ur restaurant 3.3 out of 5? When we were ordering the food, each one of us passed the order paper to the next one after we finished, so how were we supposed to tell if the items were not from one of us? And since when it’s customers responsibility to keep order paper blank? By seeing through the reviews, we are not the only one customer who got order messed up , do you mean to make it happen? Does that look like scam? Our final choice that to pack it away was made under ur rejections to make any other changes. If there’s any other way we can solve it, we would take that for sure, but you didn’t offer any and believed it was our fault. Today when I went though my google reviews, and seeing ur reply, it was like a nightmare to me, I still felt that sadness, ur excuses are weak and hypocritical which made me suffer more I believed Canadian people are kind and respectful
What I wrote initially: Honestly the worst restaurant experience in Canada, waitress brought us an order sheet with a few items already on it, and when we were trying to deny the food we didn’t order , the waitress forced us to take them and blamed us for not letting them know at first place. When people get starved, they don’t pay attention to the order sheet, and I guess that’s how they profit. Plus, when we get the receipt, a few items were not served cause they missed them, and if we pay the bill at that moment, I guess the item we ordered will never be served. Also, the items are very overpriced and not that taste-good. From their talking, I can see they are Koreans cooks trying to serve native Japanese food. I’ve been to japan, there is a big difference I can tell. In general, If you wanna pay more than 50 dollars for food each person and get disappointed, this is your...
