used to love coming here - last few times, the barista I'm used to seeing hasn't been there, and it's been who I presume to be the owner serving drinks. the drinks are good but of course, overpriced, which I didn't really mind when paired with good service.

I have a lot of sympathy for baristas, as I used to be one and I know how difficult customers can be. So I try not to be difficult. Today, I asked for a maple latte, which I didn't see on their menu but was on the sign outside. I didn't see whether it could be made iced or hot, so I asked: "Is it iced or hot?" To which she said "you didn't tell me". I realized maybe I should have asked, can this be made iced? But sometimes people get mad because it can't be, so I wanted to first ask if it was iced, hot, or both.

This is such a minor thing but every interaction with the owner here has made me uncomfortable. And then she laughed at me, like in a "this woman is ridiculous" type of way.

I paid $8.75 for a maple latte which was finished in about 5 sips. But I felt really embarrassed.

I think I'l find another coffee shop from now on.

edit: saw that the owner responded. their response changed my review to a 1 star. as i said, i was a regular - and as i said, i never cared about the price, as long as it came with good service. the owner, compared to the barista i used to see when i went here, is worse at customer service than the barista i had seen before, and terrible at taking critique, as you can see from their reply to my comment. "i am very surprised that you were used be a barista" oh, i'm sorry! i wasn't aware that when i am a customer, i should be held to the same standard as when i am working. sorry for stumbling over my words when i ordered!

if you have social anxiety DO NOT GO HERE. no grace is shown to customers.

(btw if you want to run a business, not great to alienate your regulars.)

I get the feeling that the owner hates people. You can see that in her responses to other one star reviews. I have a suggestion: make a little paper form for people to fill out, so that do you not have to interact with them. Better yet, hire and use staff who know how to talk to people and not scoff at then within TEN SECONDS of meeting them. Genuinely it is not that hard to...

An experience at this coffee shop left a bad taste in my mouth. My friend, her son and I were ordering coffees. My friend’s 10 year old son asked politely if he could use the washroom. The woman, who seemed to be the owner, responded in a rude and dismissive manner, not making eye contact, that there were no washrooms. There has been a reopening of restaurants and cafes in the last week as we enter step 3 therefore there is some confusion as to what is now allowed. Regulations aside, I know the owner has kids, probably understands the issue with the lack of public washrooms and might have responded in a more empathetic and respectful manner to a child and his mother. There were so many ways that this could have been a friendly encounter but it wasn't. Her rudeness seemed intentional. Was race involved? If it feels wrong then it probably is wrong.

In response to the owner's post.

Thank you for your response. We understand how hard it is to run a business during Covid and it is true that there is a lot of confusion with regards to the reopening. I have been supporting your cafe throughout the pandemic. Whether or not you are able to offer up your bathroom is not the point in this case. Your response, which did not include a 'sorry', was a flat 'there are no washrooms' spoken in a dismissive tone. There was no reason to speak to a child in this manner especially when you have acknowledged in your response that he was 'polite'. He deserves the same respect that he gave you. This is the issue and this is the reason I left this review. It was an upsetting experience. FYI Anti-black racism does exist and your response felt wrong whether it was...

tl;dr less than unfriendly service & lack of seating are my primary reasons for not needing to visit again. do not recommend.

was really looking forward to trying this place but ~9am this Monday my experience turned me off completely, which is unfortunate given how highly this place is otherwise reviewed - I’m sure (read: hope) that my experience was a one-off but here goes:

barista serving didn’t say a word and I got the feeling that I was a nuisance for visiting here and coming in while finishing a call - ordered an americano w/ oat milk & sugar which is kept behind the counter. so, she scooped some into my drink without asking how much i’d like, pushed the cup back towards me without a word then i had to trouble her for a stir stick or spoon (which they do not have/aren’t available for customer use). again, without another word, she stirred it up, half put on my lid and i hustled out of there for some much needed fresh air before checking and spilling some (my fault, i accept!).

overall - disappointing experience for an average priced americano in a place with, literally, 3 chairs + 1 table. it was made clear from the start that I was not welcome, even bothersome, for ordering, let alone welcome to sit and stay. can’t fairly comment on the espresso quality as I wasn’t in the mood to enjoy it after the passive...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I stumbled upon Run & Gun Coffee by chance, & I'm so glad I did! This hidden gem exceeded all my expectations. The cozy ambiance, friendly staff, &, most importantly, the incredible hot chocolate made with almond milk make it a standout in the local cafe scene. The attention to detail in each cup is evident, & the baristas are true artists in crafting the perfect brew. The menu offers a fantastic variety, offering dairy-free options. The baked goods looked delicious, & I was pleasantly surprised there were vegan options for the baked goods. What would completely knock my socks off though is if they included some gluten free treats also! The welcoming atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to catch up with friends, work remotely, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment with a great cup of coffee. The staff's passion for their craft shines through, creating a memorable & enjoyable experience. If you're in the area or even passing through, don't miss the opportunity to savour the delightful offerings at Run & Gun Coffee. It's a true hidden gem that I'm excited to have discovered & will undoubtedly visit again! 🏃‍♂️☕🌟

A very unpleasant experience. I initially saw from the outside that the place had nice decor and decent equipment, so I wanted to order a cup of coffee to lift my mood. But as soon as we entered, the staff member gave my friends and me a look that felt like she was about to lose her temper. When my friend tried to pay with AMEX Tap and it didn’t go through, she became extremely impatient. She didn’t offer any explanation, just pointed to a small note on the machine that said “NO AMEX.” I was just standing there without saying anything, but she suddenly asked me, “Do I heard you said Cortado?” I told her I hadn’t said anything, and she rudely started making a latte for my friend. Then, when it was time to pay, she handed us the POS machine, but there was no amount displayed. None of us had even touched the POS machine. We pointed out that the machine wasn’t showing a charge, yet she blamed us, claiming it wasn’t her machine’s problem—that we must have pressed the wrong button. She was very disrespectful overall. A terrible experience.

If you’re a matcha lover, I definitely would not recommend this place. $7.75 PLUS tax for an oat matcha (iced would have been more) - would be reasonable with top tier ceremonial grade matcha, but it only had a whisper of matcha flavour, and it certainly wasn’t a top tier whisper Barista gave me attitude when I asked if there was a charge for alternative milk - their wall menu only lists the alternatives they have without a price, and I figured $7 was already hefty for a matcha latte To top it all off I watched her pour leftover oat milk from the last steam(I don’t know how long ago it was) into a new pitcher and re-steam it with cold oat milk - as a fellow barista, that made me want to cry (for food safety and milk quality reasons) I’m a big matcha fanatic, and I was so excited seeing how much intention was put into the aesthetic of the place, but my experience left me flabbergasted…
