Overall: 3 Food: 3 Portion: 2 Bubble Tea: 2 Ambience: 3.5 Bathroom: 2 Customer service: 3
We came to try this restaurant after seeing the 4.9 star review. I wish I read the reviews carefully because it was clear the high rating came from discount and coupon offers. We received a coupon that states you can get $25 off for the next $50 spend IF you show them a good review you wrote for them. 🙄 And the coupon expires in two weeks lol.
The spicy fish to be fair was a good 4.5/5 in taste and I do believe they have great chefs in the restaurant.
The portion for the price however is 3 at best, and the fact that the actual dish was 1/3 of the size of the picture on the menu I feel it was false advertising - which is consistent with their coupon for review style of conducting business.
Upstairs is newly renovated and felt pleasant. But the bathrooms in the basement felt like they were 10 years older and the layout and use of space didn't make much sense. It feels like effort was made to do work on the surface only.
There was not much customer service. You order from QR code, they gave us a pot of tea, and delivered the dishes. No check ins or any other conversation and didn't see the staff til we got the bill. It was not bad customer service to be fair but there just was not really service.
Bubble tea had poetic and attractive descriptions but tapioca was hard and old as they stuck together. The tea had lack of taste too. Under delivered is how I would describe my feeling with this restaurant overall, which on the positive side is their marketing person did a relatively good job.
Overall it was not an unpleasant dining experience but we walked out still feeling pretty hungry given the small portion size. There were a lot of reviews mentioning about large portions and I am a bit confused if it used to be bigger or I just have bigger appetite than average people.
Overall while I liked the spicy fish, I liked nothing else about this restaurant to...
Read moreI love Chinese cuisine, and Chopfire serves great quality and delicious Chinese dishes. Whether you're a vegetarian, seafood lover, or a fan of pork, beef, or chicken, they have plenty of options for you. Their menu also notes the spice level of each dish, so you can choose based on your preference. They also offer beautiful cocktails made with tea and jasmine tea—definitely worth trying.
We ordered the "Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish," "Home Stir-fried Beef," "Stir-fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork," and "Bullfrog with Baby Ginger." My favorite was the Grilled Fish—it was perfectly grilled and spicy. I loved the steam and sizzling sound when it was served. If you're an adventurous foodie like me, try the Bullfrog—it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The beef was tender and just the right amount of spicy for me, and you can't go wrong with the Stir-fried Cauliflower.
We paired our dinner with the "Drunk Oolong" and finished with the delicious "Lemon Taro Balls."
The owner is very friendly and cares about providing a great customer experience. The staff are helpful and check on you regularly to make sure everything is perfect.
I would definitely come back to try more...
