I have been to this coffee shop a few times. Great coffee, chic cute ambience for studying and chatting with friends. But to me, the most important thing is customer service. It does not matter how great the environment is or how great the coffee is, if the customer service is poor, it is enough to turn a committed customer away and this is sadly what happened to me today. On Tuesday, December 07, at approximately 02:10 pm, I entered the coffee shop. I had intentions of doing some light work at the coffee shop instead of the usual grab and go. This would have been my first time sitting in the coffee shop to do work. I noticed there was an empty stool in the coffee shop with no one sitting there.Unsure if it the seat was occupied, I approached the male barista and asked if someone was sitting there. He said, ā€œNoā€ and then went on to say, ā€œThat seat is not for customers, it is only for staff.ā€ Mind you, the chair is in the same area as the other customer stools, and it is not being used by the staff as they are all working. I asked if I could sit there given that the coffee shop was full. He indicated rudely that I could not. He appeared annoyed and bothered by my questions and continued making the coffee while I asked questions about a location where I could sit. He then served my coffee, gave it to me, no warmth, no thank you, nothing. Just there- your coffee on the counter as he goes back to do what he is doing because clearly, I am a bother. But I noticed that he did not do this for any of the other customers after me. They were all given warm greetings, smiles, conversations and a thank you when their coffee was offered to them. This was not done for me. I guess my questions around finding a place to sit was a painful bother and ask for him so it rendered me unworthy of even a slight, ā€œHere is your coffee and I hope you have a great day!. Let me know if there is anything else I could to help youā€ This was a moment where a staff member could have gone over and beyond to make sure a customer was happy, but this did not happen. Even if I could not sit at that location, this was an opportunity where excellent customer service could have been utilized to ensure that I still walked away feeling satisfied with an alternate resolution. This is where he could have stopped what he was doing to offer me some assistance or happily offer to help me find a solution instead of presenting as annoyed and bothered. So yes, while my coffee was great, this one poor customer service was a huge turn off to me. Customer Service Rule 101: Do not let an unhappy customer leave your store. When a customer needs assistance, happily offer to help them with their issue and if you are too busy, respectfully redirect them to someone who can. Also, hire people that treat every customer with respect- a warm greeting and a happy smile or enthusiastic energy goes a long way. My frustration over a limited seating area could have been diffused with warmth and kindness from the staff. This barista clearly did not think I was worthy of deserving that level of customer service but never forget, a little kindness goes a long way and it just takes one bad customer service to ruin the legacy of an organization. When in...

My colleagues and I come to this place for coffee and food. One of my colleagues recommended me to try one of your sandwiches today (ham & cheese), as soon as I tried it I realized that it tasted weird…….I gave the sandwich to my co-worker who had it a few days ago and really liked it (the one who recommended the sandwich to me) and she said that something tasted bad and it tasted like it was expired….. I went back to Lunar to tell them that the sandwich tastes weird, and then one of the employees said ā€œjust because you didn’t like it we can’t exchange it for something else or give you a refundā€ with a very rude attitude. I honestly didn’t know how to reply to her after that as I was in shock….she didn’t offer me to exchange it with something else or give me a refund, so when I asked if I could get a croissant she said ā€œyeah, but you have to pay for itā€ā€¦ i don’t understand how a business could treat their customers this way. After all of that I told her that its not about me not liking the sandwich and I made others taste it as well which they also told me something was off with the taste and she made me feel even worse about going back there to ask what could’ve been wrong with it. I’ve never been treated this way anywhere else before and I’m super sad that i had this experience at Lunar as it is such a nice cafe and is convenient for me as well since it’s right under my workplace. When She finally ā€œdecidedā€ that I was worthy of getting a refund, she literally threw my money at me LOL. She made me feel horrible I wish I just threw out the sandwich and didn’t go back to ask them about it, def won’t be...

Great cafe, good coffee, terrible service

I really enjoy the aesthetic and the drinks are amazing but the service from the asian guy server is terrible

I have come twice as the coffee was great, the first time I came I had the asian guy cashier and he was extremely rude and snarky, I assumed he was just having a bad day so I brushed it off

Came back again and I was shocked to see he had his same rude attitude again at 10 am in the morning, the store just opened, I came in with a smile and asked politely for recommendations and he made rude remarks. I was waiting to pay and waited for the asian guy to put in the order, a few minutes later he goes ā€œoh you are done, I assumed you were indecisive with your order so I didn’t punch it in, are you sure you are readyā€¦ā€

Paying $20-30 for coffee to receive the such bad treatment is appalling, the lady server was very sweet and was trying to be nice but the guy server was so rude and made snarky comments not just to me but all other customers

It’s such a pity that such a great store is ruined by such horrible service - the coffee is really good and I love the coffee but after being treated horribly and getting snarky comments for my order - I don’t think I want to come back

Love the coffee, hate the service - I really hope the service is improved as I would love to come back...

I’ve been here on two separate occasions and I definitely love the vibe and coffee here. I tried the signature cream drop coffee, which like many have mentioned in reviews, and it’s definitely a must try. I’ve ordered the plain croissant and the cheese croissant and they were both fairly good. I appreciated that they ask if i’d like it warmed up too. I heard in the summer they have more seating available in their patio, but for the inside space, there is very limited seating. Definitely better for groups of 2-4 people but most seating is designated for 2 people. They have bar style seating by the window which is nice for people who want to do work and not be distracted by the ins and outs of customers picking up coffee. This is a laptop friendly cafe and I found the wifi was pretty good. The only seating with power outlets are the ones by the window though. (05/17/2023 - Correction, there are outlets at the white tables by the cash register as well as per the owners response!) At the time of writing they are only open until 5pm so it’s not a great place for someone who likes to work at cafes late into the night. Maybe in the summers they are open later but it is a bummer they close so early. The staff are super friendly and willing to give recommendations. I wish there were more Korean style cafes like this in Toronto.

The coffee and service there is exceptional. It’s a must visit place if you’re in the area. The baristas are so friendly and the vibes in the shop is very cozy. (Honourable mention, the tiramisu is outstanding)

Nice cafĆ© a few minutes’ walk from Rosedale station. A bit hard to spot from Yonge St. though, and would have missed it if I wasn’t looking for it. A decent amount of seating to meet with friends or get some work done. Their drinks menu covers the usual espresso-based drinks as well as several unique items like their Drops. Tried their flat white and it was nice and strong with an espresso-forward taste which I love. That maybe due to the volume (5 oz only) which keeps the ratio in favour of not too much milk. Their matcha latte tastes refreshing and has a nice texture. They have some food options. I just tried their chocolate chip cookie which was chewy, room temp. I believe they had sandwiches and they also have croissants that they can warm up when you order. It was pretty busy on a weekend morning when I visited, and seems like a popular spot. The staff are friendly, and the space feels welcoming. Would definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.
