I'm starting to become a regular at this little sandwich shop, the quality control at this place is flawless as the sandwiches and the hashbrowns I've ordered from this place have been consistently great.
Egg Club makes Asian-style breakfast sandwiches, which are made using a thick slide of brioche bun with a deep cut inside to squeeze in scrambled eggs, other protein like bacon or sausage and vegetables, and are topped with either spicy or sweet mayo sauce. It makes for a very indulgent and addictive breakfast sandwich, and you can trust this place to prepare the same, high quality breakfast sandwich every time. So far, I've tried their meat lovers (picture attached below) and ham sandwiches and they were both filling and delicious. Each main ingredient is prepared with care and consistency, and I have come to appreciate their attention to detail, such as adding the mayo sauce inside and on top of the toppings.
Another must-try at this place is the hashbrown, which is basically hashbrown in the form of a taco shell, with mashed potato inside. The sweetness of the mashed potato will surprise you when you first try it, but it's actually brilliant as it cuts through the greasyness of the hashbrown. I always order at least two of these whenever I order a sandwich for this place, they are great to have as snacks too after breakfast.
I am grateful to be living well within the walking distance from Egg Club. I am obsessed with their food, and I always encourage my friends to give this place a try as well. I must also add that the staff at this location are very welcoming and friendly; they always greet each customer coming into the store and wish them a good day as they are exiting. I'd love to see this place succeed and have a bigger presence in...

I've walked past this location of Egg Club thousands of times without going inside - I could never countenance paying for eggs on toast. You can make that yourself for quite cheap, so why buy it at a restaurant?
Having finally tried it, I better understand the appeal. The eggs are cooked perfectly, of course - imagine a restaurant called Egg Club that couldn't cook eggs! But what makes it special is that they use shokupan (Japanese milk bread), and mayo flavoured with parsley (note for next time: the standard order has too much mayo for my liking). It's a delicious sandwich, and at $7 I think it's valued appropriately.
The hashbrown was a surprise hit for me. It's a sandwich itself: two crispy hashbrowns stuffed with a potato puree that is pleasantly smooth and flavourful.
Lastly, they have De Mello coffee, which for those who don't know Toronto well, is one of the better local roasters. It's definitely not the only place to find De Mello coffee downtown but it made ordering the sandwich + hashbrown + coffee combo an easy choice for me.
Overall I had a positive experience and recommend trying this place out (you could eat this any time of the day). It was a solid, tasty meal at a reasonable price point.
One last note: I appreciate that the employee who handed my order to me was very polite and courteous, it's always nice to receive good...
Read moreThe food is really tasty, but the presentation is misleading. What looks like a large sandwich is actually only "half" a sandwich. What they do is take a thick slice of milkbread, then slice that down the middle... But they stop 2/3 of the way down to make like a bread taco kind of thing in which they stuff the egg & other toppings into. The sandwich looks huge/overflowing in the cardboard package... But when you pull it out the bottom is just soft bread that gets soggy quite quickly. I ended up giving the bottom part to the birds.
The staff are friendly, and service is fast, but it's not a place to hang out and eat. There's a bench seat that can sit two, but it's basically a grab'n'go type place.
It was nice to try, thpugh personally I'd probably go elsewhere the next time I want a breakfast sandwich... But if you want something quick while on the run, this place would be great for that. I just prefer somewhere I can sit for 10-20 mins so I can eat before the eggs get cold/soggy
Accessibility: The location is very small, there's a small bench/table that seats two at the front. The place is not wheelchair friendly. There's a single step to get in, but even if a chair could get in the door it would still be very difficult to navigate to the back where the register is, and turning around to leave would be even harder due to the small space... Especially if there are other people...
