Nonna Lia (at Kung Fu Tea) — Restaurant in Toronto

I discovered this restaurant when searching desserts on Uber Eats one night and let me preface this by saying that I am extremely picky with my tiramisu. Yes, this includes ones you get in Italy too. The only tiramisu that is on “another level” is my own family recipe and nothing ever seems to compare. That’s until I decided to take a leap of faith and ordered from this unknown (to me) restaurant. From the packaging that’s reusable and eco-friendly to the first bite, I was in love! I tried the traditional to start with and for the first time EVER, I had found a tiramisu I love just as much as the one my family makes. I knew as soon as I finished the first bite that I would be ordering again. I then ordered the Passion Fruit Mango because I’m a big lover of any tropical favour and OH MY GOD, this flavour did not disappoint. So unique and hits all the right spots!!! Love at first bite! I will likely be ordering all the other flavours (dying to try the Hazelnut) I haven’t tried and hope that they release more seasonal ones. I found my new favorite place. Authentic, tasty and original! Not only this but the owners seem so sweet and down to Earth. I messaged them on Instagram to compliment them and they were so nice and fast to respond. I had to let them know how amazing their tiramisu is! A true tiramisu has several layers of ladyfingers, not too much mascarpone (just the right amount) has this coffee flavour and this is exactly what you get here! They get it! I bought this cake for the first time and I have to say the positive reviews about this place are totally accurate!! I bought the hazelnut cake for my husband birthday and I was blown away by their delivery experience. They delivered the cake to me on time and in beautiful packaging. Not only was the packaging phenomenal but they kept ice packs in their to keep it cool, which was beyond what I was expecting as I was fearing what if the delivery isn't up to par. But they went beyond that. I was already so happy with gift packaging and when everyone had the chance to eat it, they love every bite of it. My dad doesn't like sugar that much so this cake was perfect amount of sweetness. Everyone was happy with the cake and asking me where I ordered it from. Staff was very nice and efficient with service. Liked how they have a couple tables and chairs for customers to sit down and enjoy their purchases as not all dessert/bubble tea shops have that. It's the first time I tried the Nonna Lia Tiramisu and chose the mango passion fruit flavour. The portion is big enough for 2 servings. So be prepared to share with a friend or enjoy the rest later yourself. The mango and passion fruit top layer was a tad too sweet for my liking. But I prefer my desserts to be on the not too sweet side. Once you get to the layers below it was less sweet which is exactly how i like it.
