I would not recommend. My boyfriend and I went in to the restaurant on Sunday around noon and ordered an omelette (Southwest sunrise), a Benedict (California dreaming), one green tea and two hand-squeezed orange juice. This is my first time leaving a review because I believe that others should know what they are getting when they are paying for the food.
The tea was stated to be loose leaf in the menu, however, when the tea came we have realized that it is a Lipton tea bag (picture). No honey or lemon was served but sugar packs only. This has shocked my boyfriend and I as this was not what we expected to be loose leaf. We thought that maybe it is a loose leaf tea bag, however it is just broken tea leafs that is almost powder like — broken tea leaves cannot be identified as loose leaf. At the end we each took a sip of the tea and left it untouched after. If we knew that we are getting a Lipton tea bag instead of loose leaf we would not have ordered it. We were not expecting to have high quality tea but we are really disappointed to know that the restaurant is charging us the price of $2.95 for a pack of Lipton green tea bag that comes in 100 packs for less than $7.00 dollars at Walmart instead of their loose leaf tea and honey for us to 'savour our moments'.
A little bit of personal taste review for California dreaming. On the menu it was stated to be sautéed spinach, however, the spinach did not have any browning, and I did not taste any salt or seasonings. It tasted like it was just boiled like the asparagus. This was also a little of a let down because the Benedict was flavorless other than the sockeye smoked salmon. Which the sockeye salmon also seems to be refreezed with the colour and texture that it presented. The colour was more pink than red and it was a bit mushy... I am a big salmon lover and I eat smoked sockeye smoked salmon fairly often and almost every morning (3-4 times a week) and it is just a little disappointing to see that the salmon tasted and appeared to have the colour of bring re-frozened and not fresh from a first-time defrosted pack. Although I understand that there is no harm in eating but the experience was just not to expectation at a restaurant that should know how to store their foods.
The smoked salmon and the spinach was not the main reason I left the review as it really comes down to personal taste. However, I am really disappointed with the menu and the tea they served and I view it as a part of the overall experience. The waiter who guided us was on his phone and barely made eye contact or talk to us. However the other waiter that was responsible of our table was nice and although he barely came by, I did not expect him to be as attentive anyways on a busy Sunday noon.
Overall, I would not recommend to bring friends or family here as there are discrepancy between the menu and the tea, and perhaps other items (such as the sauteed spinach). The orange juice was good (that's why we ended up ordering 2), the omelette stayed true to the menu, and the service is decent with room to improve, hence the...
Read moreEggspectation in Toronto absolutely lives up to the hype and then some. It’s not just a cute name—this spot really did exceed every expectation I walked in with. From the moment we were greeted at the door, the energy was bright and upbeat, and the smell of fresh coffee and sizzling breakfast ingredients immediately told me we were in for a good time.
Let’s start with the food, because that’s what we came for—and wow. I ordered the Bravocado Toast, and it was a flavor bomb in the best way. Perfectly toasted sourdough piled high with fresh avocado, sliced tomatoes, and two beautifully poached eggs, all drizzled with a balsamic glaze that pulled the whole thing together. The eggs were runny to perfection, and the plate looked so good I almost felt bad cutting into it. Almost.
My guest went for the Breakfast Poutine and that dish deserves its own standing ovation. Golden home fries, melty cheese curds, thick brown gravy, and a fried egg on top? Yes, please. It was rich, hearty, and exactly what you want when you’re looking for comfort food that still manages to be gourmet. Every bite felt indulgent without being greasy or heavy. You could tell real care went into preparing it.
And of course, we had to try the pancakes. They were soft, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. Not dry or rubbery like some breakfast chains try to pass off. These had a homemade feel, like someone’s grandmother was in the back making them with love.
Presentation-wise, everything came out looking like it belonged on a brunch influencer’s Instagram page. Plates were colorful, generous, and super cleanly plated. The fresh fruit garnish on the side wasn’t just tossed there—it was ripe and sweet and actually worth eating, which is rare.
The coffee was strong, hot, and constantly refilled by our friendly server who kept the vibe fun and casual the whole time. Service was fast, but we never felt rushed, even with a packed house. And speaking of packed, there’s a reason this place stays busy. It’s worth the wait. Whether you’re coming in for a casual bite or a special brunch with your crew, Eggspectation hits all the marks.
In a city full of breakfast spots, this one stands out. Clean environment, upbeat music, solid menu variety, and prices that feel fair for the portion sizes and quality you’re getting. Five full stars from me. I’ll definitely be back—and next time I’m getting the French toast, because that plate I saw going to the next table...
Read moreThis amazing place is tucked away on a small street right beside the Eaton Centre. As we approach the restaurant by foot, we are welcomed with a patio before entering the inside dining area.
Wow!
🦋The energy we feel at this specific location was and still is absolutely uplifting and vibrant. The ceilings are super high and are a breath of fresh air, especially living in the city. The music is always good and upbeat, and we can even see the kitchen workers from the dining area.
We are always greeted with warm, inviting smiles.
🦋During the week, the place is quieter, and there are never any wait times, and we always get a booth to sit in. On weekends, it gets busy, and that’s where the 10 to 20 minute wait can happen. They have a good system, so you can ask for your table, and they will send a text reminder so you can go for a small walk or easily walk into the Eaton Centre.
Do you remember the uplifting and vibrant vibe we were talking about? Well, it easily continues from the service to the food.
We have always had great food and drinks there, and we enjoy them because of their presentation and quality. We can definitely taste the TLC (Tender Loving Care) in each item.
The milkshakes are really good, and if you’re feeling like a lighter, more summery type of shake, definitely try the Strawberry Milkshake - you won’t be disappointed!
The Benedict section of the menu is really good. We have not had all of them, but we love the Traditional and Smoked Salmon.
The waffles and pancakes are delicious. You know what, to make this easier…
Everything we have tried on the menu is amazing!!!
🦋Every time we are there, we always have great conversations with the servers, and we’ve been there enough times that some of them even remember our faces.
Can you say friendly and welcoming?
This place is amazing for breakfast and we even had lunch there and it was just as good!
The owners of this place must be amazing people to be around. We love their energy, and it’s shown through the restaurant.
Thank you for an amazing place we can go, feel good, and enjoy the small things in life - good food and a friendly environment.
This was our experience....
