Ok listen up.
Chocolate comes from the Cacao Tree - Cacao Pod - Cacao Bean.
The Cacao bean are harvested, fermented, dried, roasted, and then processed into cacao solids and cacao butter which as then mixed with sugar and other ingredients to create chocolate.
All chocolate comes from the Cacao Tree/Cacao Pod/Cacao Bean.
Most of the worlds' Cacao is coming from Brazil, Africa, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador South and Central America.
Not sure which region of the world Läderach is focusing their Cacao surplus from, but its not a rare Cacao bean.
With that being said I found their chocolate to be very manufactured and artificial, tasting almost like plastic. It doesn't have that melt in your mouth quality, feeling which is a sign of really good chocolate.
Also there prices are extremely high. Ridiculously high. I also find the workers not to be very informed about how chocolate is processed and made.
I asked about the lead content of the dark chocolates that they sell since it's been making the headlines for over the last few years and the representative responded 'no we don't add lead to our chocolate.' 🤔
Oh dear.
No lead is not added to chocolate, no one is adding lead to chocolate the issue is that lead is present in the harvesting and processing of the Cacao pod. Lead- contaminated soil and dust can adhere to the beans during the fermentation process of the Cacao bean and the plants can also absorb cadmium from the soil.
That's how lead and cadmium get into dark chocolate. And I wanted to know since Läderach presents it's as a high quality chocolate what steps in the manufacturing process does this company use in order to remove lead and cadmium.
The representative couldn't answer me.
I wouldn't waste my money on any of their products. Over priced and...
Read moreWhat an absolute joke of a store. I stopped by, intrigued by all the hype around their exclusive Dubai Frischschoggi (whatever fancy name they are using ro ROB customer) chocolate—apparently their pride and joy. I politely asked for a sample (you know, like in any decent establishment where customers are treated with basic courtesy), only to be immediately snapped at with a smug, "NO." No explanation, no apology—just attitude. I seriously want to put the name of the employee but my basic dignity wouldn't allow me to put his name here.
I asked, "Well, what if I don’t like it?" And the response? “Then you’re stuck with it.” Really? That’s your customer service model? Selling overpriced chocolate and banking on people’s blind trust? For a place that seems so self-important, you’d think they’d have figured out how to make a sale without alienating customers. SHAME ON YOU!
We walked in with serious chocolate cravings and walked out with a bitter taste—courtesy of the rude staff, not the chocolate (which we thankfully didn't buy). The vibe was unwelcoming, the attitude was off-putting, and the service was laughably bad.
A solid 0/5. I'm convinced the glowing 5-star reviews are either fake or written by people with Stockholm Syndrome.
Thanks for absolutely nothing. Won’t be back. Ever and surely won't reccomend this store to anyone. A...
Read moreJust discovered this delicious chocolate experience within Eatons Center in downtown Toronto while shopping. They are all hand-made with chocolate from Switzerland, FrischSchoggi.
The storefront looks very premium and welcoming. You could see the chocolate being made outside through the glass while all the chocolate plates are also displayed right there! I was pretty tempted :P
They have a variety of products including bonbons, shaped chocolates, and different flavours of chocolate packaged beautifully. I would say their signature is still the FrischSchoggi chocolate.
I was able to sample some of the flavours before I made my purchase, landed on the Mixed Fruit white chocolate and Raspberry BlackBerry chocolate (pink coloured). I tasted the Honey chocolate and the Cornflakes chocolate, was unimpressive by the honey yet the cornflakes one has a good crunch. My second choice would've been their Blackberry dark chocolate which was so good too.
The FrischSchoggi chocolate is $10 for 100g, but you can freely mix and match too. They also have a small package that includes one of each flavour, that starts at approx. $28.
The staff there was polite and attentive, and willing to provide guidance and advice on flavours. Great and delicious...
