I used to come here all the time because the food was fresh and it’s conveniently located near the hospitals. Unfortunately, my visit today left me extremely disappointed with the service, quality control, and food safety.
While ordering, I watched a staff member make a fresh bowl for the customer before me, as they’ve always done in the past. Another worker then came over holding a premade salad container from the corner where the chicken is stored. She asked her coworker why she didn’t just use this old bowl. The coworker replied, “No, I’m making it fresh,” and they whispered to each other while glancing at the customer, presumably not wanting him to see they were serving something that had been sitting out.
After the fresh bowl was handed to him, the worker walked away. The other employee then took the old premade salad, added rice and chicken on top, and handed it to me. I asked how long it had been sitting out, and she said, “We make it fresh every day.” When I pointed out that they always make bowls fresh in front of customers and that I couldn’t know how long it had been there, she insisted “it’s fine” and claimed “it was salad” as if that meant it couldn’t spoil. After arguing back and forth more, she ultimately never offered to make me a fresh bowl, refund me, or even offer a discount despite the fact that this salad costs $20 (even with happy hour pricing) and I also tipped.
As someone who has worked in customer service for over 10 years, I can say this is not how you treat a paying customer. I left with the salad because I had to get to work, but this experience has cost you a...
Read moreOne of the best places for rotisserie chicken in downtown Toronto. It’s located around the major hospitals so it is convenient to grab a bite to eat during lunch breaks.
We got the chicken leg meal. The meals come with 2 sides and a sauce. There are plenty of sides to pick from and choices are abundant. We decided to go with the coleslaw and sweet potatoes. Double check which dishes count as sides as it can vary on the location. The chicken was roasted to perfect with the right amount of spices and herbs. The coleslaw was fresh and tasty. The sweet potatoes went well with the sauce provided. Additionally, we got the breaded Mac n Cheese which is super crunch and adds a different twist. The cheese biscuit was nice but I wouldn’t get it again as I have tried better biscuits before.
To compliment the food, we got the mango tea which is phenomenal and a must try when dining at flock. There are days where I come by just to buy the mango tea.
Overall, the places is a must try. It’s a little bit on the expensive side considering the portions of the meal. The vibe and atmosphere is great at this location. The staff and super friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely come back to try more dishes...
Read moreAt the time of writing this review, I suspect the 3.9 star rating on Google represents the lack of value of the food that’s offered here. Especially given the location on University Avenue, where many workers are seeking convenient and affordable lunch spots.
The restaurant claims: free-run, hormone- and antibiotic-free, and halal chicken. But unfortunately the chicken itself, falls short. It was slightly bland and dry. This may be their intention and may not be a bother to everyone, or maybe I just received an underwhelming order.
I’d also like to point out that if you order a combo with two sides, roasted cauliflower isn’t an option, which is disappointing. The kale Caesar slaw was lackluster, and while the flock stock (an additional charge) was decent, the rice was hard and dry.
It was approximately 30 dollars per person for a...
