I’ve never had this poor of service anywhere in my life.
After a long day of travel, and a very pleasant check in experience in which front desk agent Norbert had upgraded our room and provided us with 2 free drink vouchers, we headed over to the bar to use them. (Thanks Norbert!)
It’s noted on the voucher that it’s intended for use between 7-10pm, and we arrived after 10pm. In spite of this, the front desk had assured us they had already received approval from the bartender to use them. We received the vouchers roughly 5 minutes before attempting to use them.
Upon arrival, a server took the tickets, said we could not use them based on the time of day, and when prompted about the previous bartender approval, walked away with the vouchers in hand, saying she needed to ask someone, never to be seen again. We went back to the front desk to explain the situation, and the front desk agent came across the lobby to clarify the situation and inform that we could indeed use those tickets no longer in our possession.
After sitting down, we were asked if we would like some sparkling or still water. The (still) water never came. We ordered 2 cocktails and an appetizer. The drinks came out promptly and were absolutely delicious.
The servers didn’t know that however, as they never came by to ask how the drinks were. Had they done so, much of the rest of this could have been avoided.
I tried for 30 minutes to flag down a server, all of whom avoided eye contact. No server came to our table after delivering our drinks. I had to get up and walk halfway across the bar to find 3 servers chitchatting next to the bar to even speak to anyone.
After finally getting the attention of a server and inquiring about our previously ordered but not received food and water, the server waved her hand in my face, telling me repeatedly to “relax.”
I’m not typically one to ask to speak to a manager, but tonight being told to “relax,” by a server waving her hand in my face, I felt it necessary.
Having previously worked in the industry myself, I would never dare wave my hand in a guest’s face, nor condescend a guest with legitimate grievances.
This now being the first time a server has come to our table since getting our drinks (after I got up to speak to her and bring her back to the table), they began clearing both my finished drink, and my partner’s unfinished drink. She tried to start walking away with half my partner’s drink before we could stop her and ask for her unfinished drink back.
It was at this point that a food runner brought our appetizer to our table. It (chicken yakitori) was cold and tough, as though it had been sitting somewhere for a duration of time prior to getting to us.
At no point in this entire experience were we asked by anyone if we enjoyed anything, food or drink.
The manager, Raj, was very pleasant, apologetic, and offered to comp our drinks (which were already on the house by virtue of the front desk), and then offered another round of drinks in lieu of that. We just wanted to get out of there as the previous experience put us off entirely, and declined the additional drinks, but thanked him for attempting to make things right.
We had only gone in the first place after the front desk agent provided us the complimentary drink tickets. The gesture was much appreciated at the time, but the experience we had makes me wish we were never offered the drinks, and we could have skipped this whole ordeal.
Frankly, a guest being told to “relax,” by a server waving their hand in the guest’s face is utterly and completely unacceptable. There is no scenario in which our server’s behaviour tonight is acceptable.
This experience ruined our evening, and will probably be our primary, and most disappointing takeaway from our 3 day stay at BISHA. It’s unlikely I’ll be back next time I’m in Toronto. With so many other high end hotels in the area, I’ll try somewhere else next time.
And by the way, in case our server is reading this and wondering, yes, both my partner and I did see that eye-roll on...
Read moreI attended what was supposed to be a professional networking event hosted by Toronto Social Mixer, but it turned into a humiliating experience at the hands of the staff, ruining the entire evening.
It started when I ordered a drink from a bartender with long curly hair and tattoos. I realized I didn’t want alcohol on my breath for networking, so I was about to take the drink just to avoid trouble. But before I could, the bartender said, “You have to pay for it, ’cause I’m not going to,” in such a condescending tone that it caught me off guard.
Instead of handling it professionally, he called over several men, including one in a white blazer with a distinctive mustache and another in a black blazer. They all stood behind the bar while the bartender kept pointing at me. Then the same thing happened with other staff — waitresses, bartenders, and even bussers, all pointing and staring at me. Can you imagine being publicly singled out like this at a professional event? This all happened right in front of the people I was trying to network with. Instead of making connections, I was left defending myself from the unnecessary spectacle they created.
Trying to move on, I ordered a drink from a waitress, but it tasted like water, adding to the feeling that I was being mistreated. Later on, I tried ordering again at the bar, only to be refused by a different bartender, clearly instructed by the first one. It felt like the entire staff had decided to target me. The evening was supposed to be about networking, but instead, it turned into a display of harassment.
After that, I turned down at least ten offers from others to buy me drinks. I wasn’t about to let this place profit after completely sabotaging my chance to build professional connections. This wasn’t just poor service — it was targeted harassment.

Read moreWent with a couple of friends to Mister C last night. The man at the door let us in a little after ten. After asking us if we planned on getting bottle service or cocktails. We told him cocktails to which he responded that we could sit at the table and order cocktails until 11 and then they may need to give our table away and we could stand and order cocktails at the bar. We were fine with that, and were seated and then ignored for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Granted they were busy. Once the waitress finally came over she only provided the bottle service menu without a word and left again. I ended up going up to the bar to ask for a cocktail menu. When I finally was able to get the menu and go back to the table my friends informed me that the waitress had come back and gave them a two minute speech about how any cocktails they ordered would take a minimum of thirty minutes to arrive and how they were not allowed to order at the bar(even after the man who sat us had said we could) and how they should just order bottle service as that is the only thing that would be available. After that we just ended up leaving without ordering anything. It was very clear that we were not welcome or their ideal spending clientele. The two stars is because it is well decorated, but this really left a sour taste in our mouths. If you go here closer to 10 plan to buy bottle service or it probably won’t be...
