Modus Ristorante, Wow! A Truly Unforgettable Dining Experience â Especially for Gluten-Free Guests!
I donât normally write reviews, but I just had one of the best dining experiences of my life in Toronto, and I had to share. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming â but what really made the evening special was the service and the food.
Our waiter, Terrin, was absolutely remarkable. I mentioned that I was gluten-free, and without missing a beat, he listed off a variety of options from memory. It wasnât just that they had gluten-free dishes â it was the way he made me feel completely included and taken care of. Not once did I feel like I was an inconvenience or had to compromise on taste or quality.
The food itself? Incredible. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with care. And just when I thought it couldnât get any better, Terrin came back to offer me a special gluten-free dessert, a stunning creation with raspberry and chocolate. It was clearly made with someone like me in mind, and it completely blew me away.
Whether youâre gluten-free, have celiac disease, or simply want a memorable night out, this place is a gem. Iâm so grateful for the experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living in Toronto.
Thank you, Terrin, and thank you to the whole team, youâve set a new bar for what great dining should...
Read moreMixed feelings about this restaurant. Food was mediocre but service and ambiance was decent and as expected. We brought our own wines (as permitted and personal favourites) and expected a corkage fee but was somewhat surprised to find it to be $100 ($50 per bottle). When asked the waiter if this was their normal corkage fee , I received the following responseâŚâI asked the owner what to charge and this is how much he told me to charge you guysâ. Menu doesnât mention any corkage fee so it appears to be determined on the fly based on what is deemed appropriate at the time. Called restaurant today and apparently corkage fee today is $45. Iâm all for supporting restaurants in their comeback post pandemic especially after how hard the hospitality industry has been hit but sad thing is that the memory I will have after this meal (and will likely share with others) will be the high (and variable) corkage fee and lack of transparency with respect to such a charge. Such a shame as itâs a lost opportunity for word of mouth and repeat business all for a quick cash grab. Wonât be returning and wonât miss this restaurant or itâs food. But at least they made a quick...
Read moreOverall, very little value for an extremely overpriced lunch. I took my business contact for lunch yesterday to Modus and was literally shocked with the final bill of $150 (tip and tax). We were drinking water (being upsold for 2 bottles, while wanting tap water), I had an appetizer as the only meal of a raw tuna with a few greens (it was tasty, but a quantity equivalent to 3 pieces of sashimi tuna) and shared 10 olives and toasted bread. My friend had a Cesar salad and pasta with sausage. For context, I feel privileged to travel and dine in Italy many times over the years, in restaurants that ranged from Michelin star places to family no nuances taverns in variety of towns and villages. I have also been in many Italian restaurants in Toronto, and NA by large, and generally enjoy simple Italian cuisine. And I do not leave comments often but felt an urge to point out to other guests that Modus is the lowest value restaurant that I can recall. The food was ok but very basic, that would probably cost 40 Euros or less in any restaurant in Rome or Milan. No wonder the restaurant was half empty on a beautiful afternoon during...
