I found the meat buns, potstickers, and pan-fried meat buns at this restaurant to be exceptionally well-crafted. The dough had been fermented to perfection, striking a delightful balance in taste. They even added a hint of ginger, which was a clever touch to eliminate any trace of gaminess, accompanied by a subtle soupiness that was quite satisfying. In a moment of enthusiasm, I ordered ten servings, but it was more than I could finish in one sitting, so I packed the leftovers for my journey ahead. Parking was a bit of a challenge; I ended up in a paid parking facility across the street. As for the other dishes, they seemed to cater more to Western palates and were just passable. During my meal, I noticed an elderly couple next to me, and one of them kept coughing. Concerned for their well-being and my own, I decided to cut my visit short, paid my bill, and left. It was a reminder that while the food can be delightful, the circumstances can sometimes lead us to make unexpected decisions.
PS. had the pleasure of trying a rice noodle soup with beef slices, and it was a delightful experience. The broth was rich and aromatic, complementing the tender beef slices beautifully. The noodles were soft and absorbed the flavors of the soup perfectly. It's a dish I would definitely recommend. On the other hand, I found the other noodle dishes to be quite average. They were acceptable, but didn't leave a lasting impression, so I wouldn't particularly...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Mom’s Pan-Fried Bun for a while now. Always ordering online because their pork pan-fried buns are consistently delicious. Today, I finally decided to dine in for dinner with my baby in a stroller, thinking it would be a nice change and an opportunity for a sit-down meal.
Unfortunately, the in-person experience was extremely disappointing. Despite the restaurant being far from full (about four vacant tables), the waitress with glasses didn’t even offer a greeting when we walked in. The first thing she told me was that I couldn’t dine in just because I had a stroller. She claimed there was no space to accommodate it and suggested I get takeaway instead.
This was confusing and frustrating, especially since another family with a stroller was already dining inside without issue. I had even messaged my husband to meet us there after work, expecting to have dinner together as a family—but because I wasn’t allowed to stay, I ended up just ordering the buns to go and finding somewhere else to eat.
While the food remains excellent (the pork buns were, as always, on point), the service was lacking in both professionalism and hospitality. It was disheartening to feel unwelcome simply because I had my child with me. If you’re a parent with a stroller, this may not be the most accommodating spot to dine in.
I hope the management takes this kind of feedback seriously. A little kindness and flexibility would...
Read moreSmall restaurant where the constant coming in and out of delivery pick ups let's the cold wind blow in. Obviously more a winter time issue. I also didn't like that they let people waiting for a seat standing next and behind me. My wife and I tried a bunch of menu items:
Pan fried buns - not very flavourful. The meat inside was pink. Don't recommend.
Wonton - my wife had these and the filling again was not flavourful for her.
油条 - really only one way to do these.
Sliced pig's ear - My wife had this and said it was a sweet version when she wanted the salty one. Something to note if you want a certain version.
炸酱面 - These were really good and excellent value. I recommend them.
Squid skewers - The top and bottom weren't cooked. My wife pointed this out and they took them to the back. Upon return they were exactly the same. When we mentioned it again they just took them away and refunded us for them.
豆腐脑 - My wife had this and said it was really delicious.
酥肉 - This dish was ok but not what I think of 酥肉. Also no spicy powder to go with it is a poor choice.
锅包肉 - Not what I think of 锅包肉. It actually tasted just like a chicken McNugget which was shocking. Maybe the oil? Anyways not recommended.
The wait staff told us they were new and did their best. I think if you want 小吃 there are definitely better options...
