Service is a disorganized mess, but servers are friendly. Limited seating space too, especially for groups. We came as a group of two on a Thursday evening around 6:30 to a moderately full restaurant. We were seated at the wall-facing hi tops. Service was initially pretty quick to get our orders and give us water. I got the Buta Fire and my friend got the Ebi Don. We also got a side of Karaage. While our food came out quick initially, we had to wait some time before we realized the Karaage had been forgotten. I flagged down our server and asked for it again, to which she didn't acknowledge her error and simply said "it's on the way". After about another 10 minutes we see another server bring what was presumably our fried chicken to another group that had been seated for maybe 5 minutes. Seems like that server realized the mistake because she tried to get it back but they had already started eating... So I figured that they would make another one for us and waited again, but nope. Another ten minutes go by (and we had finished our food at this point) when a third server asks us if we were done and ready for the bill. Huh???? I asked for a third time for the Karaage and it was finally brought out after another wait. All the food was great and the Karaage was some of the best I've had but service here is a clown fiesta. If you can come outside of peak hours I suggest you do, as it may lead to a less frustrating dining experience.

I have four stars because each time I’ve come -I’ve eaten here twice now, visited a total of SIX times- apart from eating here, they were OPEN, but on break.. I understand that everyone needs a break, but please, don’t get customers hopes up with an “open” sign as well as an opened door, and then tell me you cannot serve me because you’re on break. Is there no sign you can place on the door; not even a notice on the “store hours” you have posted on the glass? I just found it a bit tedious that each time I was craving this amazing food on my break from work, I could never eat it because they would tell me they can’t serve me due to being on their break. Aside from this, I always get their sake don, it’s amazing. I’m not a huge fan of wasabi mayo; so I personally ask to put it on the side, so I can adjust it to my taste. The rice is seasoned, which compliments the fish. A nice, atmospheric, cozy restaurant where lots of young kids go, and it’s right along Yonge which allows for easy commute or travel. Customer service is friendly and welcoming aside from when you enter and they’re on break (which, as stated before, is understandable to a degree). They smile and welcome you, and give you recommendations for any new comers looking to try the food.

I've been here twice now in one week and I can't wait for the next visit! This place has the best curry katsu don I've had - the curry had a nice depth to it but was also mild. The pickles helped offset the heaviness from the fried pork cutlet and the curry sauce, overall it was a perfect dish. The second time I went, we had chicken karaage and I ordered steki don. I was very impressed by both dishes. Karaage was perfectly seasoned and had a delicious sweet sauce on top; it had a crunchy skin and very tender and juicy meat inside. Steki don came with an amazing spinach salad and was a very satisfying don - the rice, the steak, and the thinly sliced ginger in the rice were perfect together. The place has two long rows of tables so it is set up like a bar, which I think is typical for a casual dining scene in Japan. It is (deservedly) a very popular restaurant but the quick service makes the wait time short. The restaurant itself is very tidy and the service is fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant to both the locals and those visiting the city.

Quietly tucked away in Hayden Street, this don place is perfect for lunch and dinner in the Yonge/Bloor area! Simple white and natural wood colour décor with gray flooring keeps it modern and clean. Since discovering the spot, it seems they've picked up fast on Ritual. Miso soups and don bowls were flying into their takeout boxes and crowds of people came in to pick up their orders. The open concept kitchen lets you see everything, and the bar stool benches for dining in provide a hybrid of intimacy and community unique to small shops such as these (think ramen shop, but modern décor). What brings us back is definitely the convenience and so far, the no-complaints about the menu items.

We were craving dons and this spot popped up. It was a late weeknight, activity was slow, the place was quiet and calm. We picked out the Japanese curry don (update: not on the menu currently in Jan 2018) and their signature Buta Fire don. We also got their karaage to top up the meal. It was a bit of a wait, but we did see the kitchen progressing and felt reassured. The karaage is crunch and flavourful, moist and served hot - no complaints. The curry don I got vegetarian, which was more than sufficient as we had the karaage as well. The curry sauce was flavourful and just the right level of spice for me (basically mild kick) which meant I could still taste the other flavours. The Buta Fire comes topped with tons of pork, and also has a small kick of spice to round out its flavour. Both dons were satisfying and immediately made it on the roster of go-to meals near the office.

Recent visit rotated out the curry don and was replaced by the sake lover - salmon and wasabi, a deconstructed salmon maki roll almost. Lots of salmon sashimi, a good amount of wasabi (more than I needed) and rice with cabbage, crisps, and mayo. It wasn't as refreshing as expected, but satisfied the "I want sushi" craving while still being a...

For a place that supposedly specializes in "rice bowls", their rice was inedibly bad. It was totally hard and undercooked. The flavours were okay but that hardly matters when the rice taste like rocks. There were also bones in the sake lover, and honestly the fish was not very fresh. You can get fresher salmon sashimi at cheaper prices at the Korean supermarket H Mart right around the corner. The prices are too high considering what you actually get, especially the for the shrimp bowl, three tiny shrimps with some rice and it's $14? This entire experience was so disappointing for a restaurant that claims to serve the "ultimate donburi", I am cringing so hard at all these false claims on their social media pages. Definitely would not recommend.

I left the same review on Yelp initially and shortly after, this business tried to bump their rating up with very obvious fake 5-star reviews. They have since been deleted by Yelp but there are fake reviews on Google as well. I can say with certainty that the review left by Tyler Park is fake as the same name was behind one of the deleted 5-star reviews on Yelp.

It’s really bothersome that this business is going to such great lengths to achieve a positive rating by fraudulent means and yet they cannot make sure to serve...
