I used to go to this place a long time ago. Not sure what happened.
The service was bizarre. The ground floor was fine when we walked in and told us to go to the upper floors to seat a party of four. The minute I arrived on the second floor and explained that were a group of four I got a confused look. My instinct was to go to the third floor, I should have followed y felling as the miss-communication issues continued though out the evening: Why did two servers come over to give each one of us teaspoons to eat four pieces of cake? (We just unwrapped the service in our napkins and used the forks to eat our cake.) The spoons could not have been for our drinks, since I was the only one drinking and Americano, everyone else had water. Why take my menu from me before I have ordered food? Some of our drinks were forgotten about, or never understood - that's why the rest of the table only had water. I think the server remembered I wanted an Americano because I had to repeat myself twice, and they kept referring to my drink as a coffee. I took one sip of my Americano and was pretty sure it was filtered coffee. Why is it so confusing to give our party of four a single piece of cake each. (If the plate is named something in the menu why use a different name when serving us and then hand us completely different cake slices: example I identify I had ordered the Belgian Chocolate cake, only to be asked if I wanted the dark chocolate cake and then be handed the Dad chocolate cake slice.) Why ask us permission to take away silverware when the plates have already been removed?
By the end of the sitting it was obvious that my server could not understand me at all, one example: I asked for the bill and told the server it was all to be on one bill, - only to be asked if I wanted four bills.
Finally, as I sat in this place I began to realize there was a thin cling of smoke in the air from the oil used in the kitchen. I smelled it on my clothes all the way home. I'm trying to put my coat through the dryer to get the olly smell out as I write this review. Thus really annoyed me.
My partner paid the bill - there were set options for tips. We don't ever tip 0 since it is hard to live in the city, but we would have preferred to tip 10% - the set starting tip was much higher so they...
Read moreAfter ordering a plate of Nachos with explicit instructions of NO JALAPEÑOS, and watching our waiter write it down repeating out loud NO JALAPEÑOS....he brought me my nachos 30 minutes later ridled with Jalapeños. I didnt realize it until i finished 1/3rd of the plate. They were chopped up. Called the waiter over, told him it was full of Jalapeños and told him that they make me extremely ill. He asked if i want a new order.....seriously? YES!!!! I WANT A NEW ORDER NO JALAPEÑOS! i watched 3 staff members including a cook argue....i assume someone was catching trouble. I sat waiting for 15 minutes...watching my partner eat and finish her meal before i received my order of nachos. Then she got to sit and watch me eat my dinner. So much for a romantic dinner....we ate separately. At the end, a girl came out and apologized and offered a free piece of pumpkin pie. She said it is not gluten free....so why would she offer it to us after we told her at the start of our order that we are gluten free. Why? I politely told her that i was disappointed and that i will probably be ill within the hour....she just said sorry. The bill came full total...nothing comped...no minute wisp of a discount for their inept attempt at food service, and error potentially making a customer sick. The next day well.....lets just say i would give Jackson Polluck a run for his money....he would be proud. (Google Jackson Polluck if you dont know who he is) People work hard for their money. When you have the privelage of being able to go out for a nice dinner...spending your hard earned money, you expect a good level of service. My money went strait in the toilet....literally. my partner and i ate separately....not very romantic. Dont waste your time here. There are many better options in the area, and you wont have to worry about what is in your food. Date of disappointment-Oct...
Read moreCONSUMER ALERT! Avoid this establishment! Upon finishing our meal we were presented the bill which I promptly paid via debit, adding a 15% tip. Noticing the bill was high (after the fact) I double checked, and sure enough, it stated that they automatically added a 15% tip prior to me adding another. No problem, I’ll just ask my server to fix what I assumed was an honest oversight. ‘No’ I was told, the 15% tip was clearly marked on the bill and there was nothing she could do about it. OK, first of all, if you engage in non-standard practices such as automatically adding 15% to a bill, the least you could do is verbally alert your customer of such, especially when you watch them add the amount a second time. Nope. Secondly, when made aware of such an oversight, you’d think to rectify the situation with as little fuss as possible. Nope. She (and her manager) both doubled down and insisted there was nothing they could about it once the transaction went through (patently false, it’s done all the time). They then went so far as to blame me for not paying enough attention to what was on the bill! I assured them that the charges could be reversed and that if they weren’t, my bank would reverse the entire amount. Surprise! They suddenly found a way to do so, but not before another group of patrons (who overheard the conversation) declare that this was the 3rd time they alone had witnessed the same disagreement with others! So, clearly not an oversight but a deliberate, predatory and dishonest attempt to bilk customers. Appalling! And they still had the gall to charge me the original tip – which, if I recall correctly, is intended to be a reward for good service and customer satisfaction. They do not deserve...
