I came here with my friends and I love that PLANTA is accommodating to all sorts of dietary restrictions! This restaurant is really aesthetic, from the cutlery to the seating! Most places when they have great interior design, I tend to get disappointed with the food. PLANTA surely does not disappoint! I don't eat veggies as much as I should, and I'm surprised that the veggies here doesn't even taste like veggies! We ordered the bang bang broccoli and Japanese sweet potato for appetizers. All I can say is that they're so delicious! It's an absolute must order! The broccoli was so crispy and the sauce complimented it well. It was like a peanut sweet chilli sauce. The Japanese sweet potato had so much umami flavor! I forgot what the sauce was but it tasted kind of like truffle ! For my main, I ordered the pad Thai slaw with crispy mushroom (extra $4). I was surprised since pad Thai is generally warm. The noodles were cold! I loved the crispy mushrooms! They were savoury and crunchy! I also love the taro chips added on top. As for my friends meals, they ordered the carbonara and the lettuce wraps. Lettuce wrap was with fried tofu and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were pretty good but heavily doused in sauce. It was also very big portion and my friend couldn't finish it. For the carbonara it tastes exactly like typical carbonara. I'm not sure what they did but it tasted like pork but there were no pork. I would say PLANTA is a safe choice to try carbonara if you eat halal, since almost every where else has pork in their carbonara. Overall, I really recommend this restaurant! Although it's plant based only, I had a great experience! All the food was good! Only cons were that it is a bit pricey. But nonetheless I think it's great to come occasionally! There's other PLANTA locations too with different themes and I'm very excited to try them as well

Been a while since I’ve visited Planta…I used to come often when it first opened, and stopped because I didn’t feel the food was worth it. But after many years we decided to give it a try for a girls night dinner around the holidays since we were in the area. Unfortunately, like the food, I find the service to be a hit and miss. The host who seated us at our table was kind and even allowed us to change our table to one that was near the window once it was available like we had asked. However, after offering us water, our server did not return to take our order and I noticed she was serving other tables except ours…after some time passing I asked the host if he could please see if the server could take our order. When she finally came to the table she had an air of annoyance. I don’t know why, but this was the first impression made. The food…. We enjoyed the dark and stormy mocktail…it was very refreshing. The one thing that continues to be a solid menu item is the truffle Parmesan fries which are flavourful and a thin fry like they have at McDonald’s (and don’t we all love those). The rest of the meal was mediocre…. the Dumplings : the best thing about this dish was the chilli oil which we asked for more of. The filling itself wasn’t very flavourful and the garnish was too big and overpowering on the plate. Spicy chorizo pizza: we did not enjoy it…the agave is too sweet on the pizza and the dough in the middle was very thin and soggy. As a vegan it’s nice to have a plant based restaurant that has an intimate stylish atmosphere. Though at the prices being paid the service, quality and flavour of food needs to be a match. There are other spots in the city where all three are far better.

We went on Saturday, March 31st, 2018. Parking was easy and nearby. We had reserved online earlier in the week and had received a telephone confirmation, so it was a bit of surprise when we showed up and they didn't have our names on the list! After some initial confusion, we were seated shortly thereafter. The inside of the restaurant was very nice with high ceilings, and some lovely green plants lining the right side of the wall. They also had a live DJ who was spinning some tunes that we liked. The foods we enjoyed: The "Coconut ceviche" appetizer and the "Thai noodle" appetizer. They were very tasty and we recommend them. The food we were impartial about: The "Sweet mess tacos". Messy and sweet yes, but maybe something tart needs to be in there. The bland taste of black beans, sweet potato, and corn is all we really tasted. The foods we didn't care for: The "Planta burger" and the "Crab cakes". The vegan patty needed a little "Maggi" seasoning, along with a little cumin and "Allspice" seasoning to enhance the taste. Otherwise, the texture and meatiness were almost on point. The crab cakes tasted too much like heart of palm, and Planta should consider calling this something else. We did like the effort they took to have it flake off in the manner of a real crab cake however. The cocktails were not vegan of course, and after experimenting with some, I stuck to a rum and Planta's own tasty version of cola. We may go back and try some other dishes, because we like the ambiance. If we do, we will update this review.

Update July 2024; Here's the revised review with the additional details about the excellent service: A few months ago, I decided to venture into solo dining, and Planta was my restaurant of choice. Knowing their food is 100% plant-based gave me peace of mind from any concerns about meat or animal byproducts. I prefer going early to avoid crowds, but regardless, every solo dining experience at Planta has been exceptional. I've explored dishes I've never tried before, like their French toast which was a standout, though not quite a favorite. It earns 4.5 stars from me. Recently, I indulged in their lobster roll with tater tots and coleslaw—hands down the best meal I've had there. It set the perfect tone for the day; I was so satisfied I skipped dessert! Their new summer drinks, especially the lychee one if you enjoy white wine, are refreshing additions to their menu. What truly sets Planta apart is their excellent service from the moment you walk in. The staff is attentive and accommodating. Once, I even forgot my to-go bag, and they promptly called me to let me know. This level of service is why I keep coming back to Planta again and again. In 2022, I tried Planta for pickup during a downtown work meeting. Since then, it's become my top vegan restaurant. The Caesar salad is a game-changer, the burger is top-tier, and the service is outstanding. The sushi impressed me so much that I made a round trip from Mississauga to Toronto just so my colleague could experience it too.

I am a meat lover, and I have never visited a vegetarian restaurant in my life by myself. HOWEVER, they are among my top-3 restaurants in the GTHA. I never ever thought that I would fall in love with a veg restaurant, but they made it. + Their Lasagna is by far the best I have ever had in my life. Full of flavours. Eggplant, Zucchini, Cashew mozzarella, basil pesto and the final touch of tomato sauce. It was really amazing. ($24.75) + Italian job pizza was also great. Roasted garlic, fennel, mushroom bacon, farro, cashew mozzarella, they all went well together. ($20.25) + I forgot to tell you about the starter. Queso Fundido is really great. A plate to share. It is on the spicy side with Jalapeno inside. Tortilla chips were great and in huge size. Cilantro, salsa, spinach, cashew mozzarella, and lots of jalapenos. We loved it. ($16.25) + Spicy lumaconi pasta was also good. I am not a fan of pasta in general, but they know what they do. ($23.50) + Their staff are really cool. Always smiling, refilling your bottles multiple times without being intrusive. They help you by explaining the ingredients and asking for specific allergies. A professional team is running the business. Congrats! - the portions are small. You shouldn't think of a restaurant to fill yourself with, rather, you should enjoy each and every bite. - the price is on a high side compared to the portion size, but it's not a big deal if you are given such heavenly dishes.
