I have been coming here on and off for several years now. Whenever we need a sugar fix, my friends and I split 4 churros for $5. One afternoon I walked in on my own, intending to just browse the new stalls, when I saw a father buy his son a churro ice cream cone. A churro cone? Hell yeah, I wanna try that! So I got one too, and it was around $6 (can't remember if that was before tax). Anyway, you got to choose between chocolate and vanilla ice cream, and for toppings you could choose between crushed fruit loops and nuts - I went with the nuts. I also added dulce de leche to mine (they ask you if you want some). Once my cone was ready, I went to sit in the back patio, and once seated I tried to dig in, but it was so awkward! The cone was placed in a plastic cup, and half of it was sticking out, and the other half in the cup. The cone was too thick too easily bite into it, so in the end I took it apart, and watched the ice cream melt all over the table, and pieces of churro fall to the floor. Overall, I found the cone hard to manage, very heavy, and the ice cream was not good quality. But that said, it was interesting and I would get it again, but split it with another person.
P.S. I was in Kensington Market for Pedestrian Sunday in August, and when my friends and I went to buy churros, they had brought the price up to 3 churros for $5. Seriously? Why jack up the price for one day? So we decided to go somewhere else - to a vendor that honoured their...
Read morePanchos is located in a storefront that is also occupied by other vendors in Kensington Market. A lot of people just come here for the churros to snack on while they walk around outside but if you'd like to sit down, they have indoor seating as well as a covered patio at the back of the store.
A churro cone costs $7 (tax included) and you get your choice of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, or cotton candy), one filling (dulce de leche, strawberry, chocolate, or condensed milk), and one topping (Fruit Loops, coconut or walnuts).
I chose to get mine with vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce and topped with Fruit Loops. I think Pancho's has changed the churrocone somewhat as now it is served with regular ice cream instead of soft serve. The ice cream itself is nothing spectacular but goes well with the warm crunchy churro. The cone was not overly sweet even though it is rolled in cinnamon sugar.
I personally like Eva's Original Chimneys better as it seems to pack in more flavour and has real fruit in their cones but this was not bad.

I am an ice cream purist so it didn't take me by huge surprise that this was a little too much for me. The hard-serve ice cream was solid - nothing mindblowing, but good as ice cream should be. I wouldn't call it a massive serving; instead, the scoop was probably small-medium sized at best. The churro was not very crunchy, actually slightly soggy and soft and didn't give me a satisfying pairing. The churro was not that flavorful, just dull and tasted like sugar.
They only had vanilla available although chocolate and cotton candy were advertised as well. You are allowed one topping: froot loops, coconut, or crushed walnuts - which I went with, no complaints. Coating the bottom of the cone with dulce de leche was a mistake as it made the insides way too sweet and inedible. Not sure why the lady didn't drizzle the top of the ice cream with the sauce. I ate the ice cream and threw the cone out. Undesirable...
