Located at 2093 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1K1, just a short 2-4 minute walk from Woodbine subway station, Sandy's Restaurant is a Chinese culinary gem that promises a delightful dining experience. The Chinese staff members are not only warm and friendly, but also demonstrate exceptional care and attention when preparing the food.
One of the standout qualities of Sandy's Restaurant is its affordable prices, despite a recent increase. You can still enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
For those dining solo, I highly recommend trying their special combo options, specifically the Fish and Tofu with Steamed Rice (item 121), the Eggplant and Tofu with Steamed Rice (item 123) and Sliced Beef and Mixed Vegetables with Steamed Rice (item 102). These flavourful dishes are personal favourites and provide generous portions that will surely satisfy your hunger. They are the perfect choices for a single person looking for a complete and fulfilling meal.
When it comes to soups, I recommend opting for the Wonton Soup. While I personally didn't enjoy the Egg Drop Mushroom Soup as much, the Wonton Soup is a true winner, offering a delightful blend of flavours that will warm your soul.
Lastly, I can't recommend enough the Broad Ho-Fan with Beef in Seasonal Soya Sauce. This dish, as showcased in the picture accompanying this review, is a mouthwatering delight that's perfect for sharing among two people. The flavours of the beef, wide rice noodles, and the seasonal soya sauce come together harmoniously, creating a satisfying and memorable culinary experience.
Overall, Sandy's Restaurant is a hidden gem on Danforth Avenue. With its friendly staff, affordable prices, and delectable dishes, it promises a culinary adventure worth exploring. Don't miss out on the special combo options, the flavourful Wonton Soup, and the indulgent Broad Ho-Fan with Beef in Seasonal Soya Sauce. Read moreWanted to taste some yummy Chinese food from one of the local businesses and Google recommended them. Seeing 4.3 avg. rating encouraged us to try it out. No complaints about service, it was warm and friendly. However, the food was not. It's true that they give you a huge amount to fill your belly but if your tongue couldn't taste anything, what's the point of filling your belly? Mongolian Chicken with steamed rice had more cabbage to cover the whole thing (see picture). Even if that was tasty, I wouldn't complain. It was dripping with sauce and no taste. Sweet and Sour Pork usually is a safe bet, with chicken fried rice, it looked good but tasted nothing. The pork was full with sauce, and fried rice was hard as hell. Overall, not a good experience. Having less faith in these Google ratings lately. I guess most 5-star people went there to fill their belly with cheap offers rather than taste something good at a reasonable price. No hard feelings to the owners, they were good, just not the food...
Read moreI wasn’t going to write this review because we LOVE Sandy’s and thought it was just a bad day for them. I just found out they switched owners. We’ve ordered endless times from them and they are the most consistent and delicious Chinese food. Tonight (my birthday of all nights haha) it was the opposite. My boyfriend waited 25 minutes there after it was supposed to be ready. The portions have been cut in half. The typically super crispy and delicious ginger beef was drenched in sauce and completely soggy. Inedible. The lemon chicken had reeeeeallly sour sauce. The chicken was if it was panfried for so long it was dry and had a hard exterior (the actual chicken not breading) It was cold even though he had to wait. All this to say, it went from 5 stars to 1. I hope someone sees this before they order again thinking it’s the...
