This is my favourite place to get delicious topokki and kimbap dishes!
I've tried the following; -Rose, Original, and Creamy Curry Topokki. My favourite is Rose because it has a good balance of creamy and spicy and tastes great with the sausage add on. Love the rich flavour of all the sauces and the rice cake consistency. -I love the kimbap even more than the topokki, especially the Half Tuna & Half Sinjeon Kimchi Kimbap. It's well wrapped and has the perfect variety of ingredients. Also pairs well with the Spam Mayo Rice Bowl. -Honey Butter Cheese Balls had a good fried consistency but I personally didn't like the batter with the butter taste since it seemed to clash with the cheesy inside. Would recommend trying Mozzarella Cheese Balls instead. -I've tried their fried appetizers, like fried fish cake, seaweed rolls, cheese sticks, and noodle dumplings. They are yummy but I wouldn't say anything super special. Also they are quite filling so makes it tricky to enjoy the main meals.
Other thoughts; -Portion sizes for all are very filling and great for sharing within small groups -Have combo sets to help get shareable meals that allow you to try a variety of menu items -Staff are friendly and offer fast service -Lots of seating and they take reservations for big groups, this location is much more spacious than the Church St one -Clean bathrooms Great music played throughout 😊
Will definitely come back to try more of their rice bowls and...
Read moreStopped by Sinjeon Topokki & Bar on Bloor Street and let me just say—this place exceeded every expectation. We came for one thing only: topokki. And wow… it was easily the best topokki I’ve ever had.
The rice cakes were perfectly chewy, swimming in a rich, spicy, and slightly sweet sauce that was absolutely addictive. We added cheese, and it melted into the sauce like a dream. The balance of flavors was spot-on, and the portion was generous enough to share but still left us wanting just one more bite.
The vibe inside is fun and casual, with a welcoming staff and upbeat energy. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in.
If you’re a fan of Korean street food or just want to experience topokki done right, this is a must-visit in Toronto. Nothing fancy—just straight-up delicious food made with love.

Read moreI've tried Sinjeon before at Church and College location and really like it. However, this location doesn't live up to the hype.
The food is ok. The Rose Tokbokki was more watery and less flavourful compared to the same dish I had at another location. I also had the Bulgogi Kimbab, and was super surprised that it only has rice and bulgogi (no carrots, pickled radish, etc, the usual ingredients you would expect in your kimbab).
The service is inconsistent. The other tables all had water, however, we were never offered that - Is it something we need to specifically ask for?
I understand that they just open and have a lot to adjust, and hope they will...
