So heres a story of a night i would like to share with everyone.... A night i had planned to dine out with my girl friends and have some fun at Downtown Toronto that turned into complete horror for all 5 of us ... On the 7th of November 2017 ... Tuesday We drove to DT Toronto from Mississauga to dine at a local favourite restaurant named Suko Thai at Wellington street… We checked into the restaurant at around 8:30pm and were in great spirits because it was my birthday dinner. As soon as we were seated the waitress named Maggie started being shockingly rude to us. She rolled here eyes and made clear through her body language and gestures that we were not welcome , perhaps because she was in a rush to close. She mixed up our orders, did not give us cutlery or condiments and acted really annoyed when we requested for them. I even tried to drink my soup wth a fork somehow as i was kinda scared to even ask for a spoon because the server’s body language had been offensive and agressive since the beginning ... we wrapped up as fast as we could & i immediately asked for the bill ... the server literally snatched my debit card & the receipt from my hands! As soon as the bill was paid, Maggie the server started making very snide remarks to us ... she started shouting at my friend Sana and didn’t maintain a safe distance wth her ... She was so up close that Sana had to yell it out loud asking her to back off and not touch her. The waitress, then threw a glass of water at her. We were all stunned by her aggression. This whole time she was also screaming at her, that we shouldn’t have ordered so much food! Feeling the situation escalating, I was worried for our safety and started recording her aggression with my phone. My friends kept seeking help from others but no one stepped forward and despite repeated requests to call the manager, no manager or staff member stopped the server from threatening or attacking us !!!!
Maggie, this server then threatened us to never come back or she would harm us ! Another staff member Jack, came forward in support of the waitress and started getting very aggressive with me. He took out his phone and started making a video of me. He was getting too close and had the phone right up in my face, and in order to get some space, I pushed his phone away. That’s when he totally lost his sanity and physically attacked me. He grabbed me by the arm, scratched my arm, then shoved me and threw me onto the table. It has left me wth bruises and I still cannot get over the trauma of what he did to me ...
Shell shocked , we called the cops. When we told there police our story, the policeman at 51 division Toronto told me he can arrest my attacker Jack on the spot and he can be charged wth a criminal offence. I think i was too shocked and traumatised to be able to react properly after being physically assaulted, so I didn’t press charges at the time. I also felt this man might be from a low income group and might have a family depending on him. But I cant stop feeling like he needs to face the consequences for physically assaulting a woman, or he might do it to someone again. Or has done it in the past.
This man Jack, needs to learn that it is NOT okay to hurt a woman, and it is unbelievable that he is working in the service industry, as a server in a restaurant where he can harm other patrons at any time. I would like to see what the management of Suko Thai does to protect its customers from this violent man who continues to work there. I refuse to stay silent just because I’m a woman and I want to make sure this man can never lay a hand on another woman again. This violence and abuse cannot be acceptable.
I owe an open apology from Jack and The restaurant Staff for their ignorance, their misconduct and their assault on all...
Read moreIt's great that Sukho Thai makes good, authentic Thai food. However, the delivery service at the Dundas location is ABSOLUATELY ridiculous! Since opening, they take anywhere from 1½ to 2 hours to deliver! The first thing you're told on the phone when requesting delivery, is that it will take 1½ to 2 hours (!?) and it's clear the goal is to deter you from the request and get you to pick up your order instead. This is too long and unprofessional. Understandable in the beginning, but now that they've learned about their order volume, and still haven't improved on this, has become a real put-off. They explain they only have one driver so, I ask, if one driver can't handle the volume, within a reasonable amount of time, say, 45 min to 1 hour (tops), why on earth would they not either 1. hire another driver OR 2. outsource the delivery service all together? Clearly they're doing well if having such issues and that this is their 3rd location. If there were any other good Thai restaurants in the area, I would not even bother to place a delivery order at this location. Yes, I'm ranting but, it's so silly! You request and pay for delivery for the convenience, when you’re hungry. Unfortunately, until Sukho Thai Dundas sorts this out, it will remain a serious deterrence for me to order from them at all. Yes, good food but, this aspect of their service sucks! And to be honest, in the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a marked change in the quality of the food. Flavours are there but, sometimes the chicken in the curries tastes like it's been microwaved (you know how that changes the taste of chicken in particular) and the last 2 times we ordered the garlic chicken (which is usually a favourite), it was way too overcooked. What's going on Sukho Thai Dundas!? So disappointing because we've been loyal customers since your Parliament days and love Thai food. I hope they can sort this out because, if any serious competition comes to the neighbourhood, and it’s likely,...
Read moreDon't eat here. Many better Thai options in Toronto. Potential health hazard. Overpriced, terrible food. My $18 dine-in lunch, called "Nia Grab Treaum" was one of the lower priced options. Described as a dish of rice, served with a sunnyside egg and slices of marinated beef with sliced cucumber on the side. The rice was rock hard, stale, and cold. As though it had been sitting out of the steamer an hour before serving. Couldn't cut a grain with my fingernail. Forget even trying to be fresh, what I was served violated provincial health codes. The thinly sliced beef was overcooked, oversalted, unchewable, and plain disgusting. Proper Thai cooking requires fresh ingredients, but they didn't even bother to throw my atrocious lunch in the microwave so it would at least be warm. The 4 tiny slices of cucumber were soft and sour, they didn't even bother seasoning to cover up the fact they'd gone bad. The egg was burnt around the edges and tasted like it was cooked in re-used oil on a dirty pan. Recommendations: Fire the chef, who can't event seem to cook an egg. Focus on fresh ingredients and infuse with fresh herbs to elevate flavour. Lower the prices, until you deserve them. Implement real Thai cooking with a focus on fresh ingredients and dishes properly cooked to order. I remember this place being better years ago, but hadn't returned since even then the prices were over-inflated to the point of being an obvious scam. They are milking peoples' money for insultingly bad food. Even though it's right next door I will never return. SukhoThai is in a convenient spot with a lot of wealthy and naive consumers who don't flinch at the cost, ignorant that the restaurant has no pride or passion in what they provide. This is a disservice to our community. We need good, affordable food. I'd like to mention the service and front of house staff were, kind, understanding, and extremely...
