Today my colleague, four of us girls, went to this amazing Ethiopian restaurant downtown Toronto. Such a cute place, so well decorated with artifacts from Ethiopia and so well placed on the top floor and bottom floor. The ambience is just wow!! and we girls just couldn't talk enough of how beautiful every piece of furniture looked. The owner Andrew (husband) built everything himself, from the roof to the floor, even the benches and tables. His beautiful wife Lily, also the owner, decorated the restaurant so tastefully with every piece brought in from Ethiopia.
Food... For starters we had meat samosas, made from scratch. Yum yum delicious. Fresh pineapple juice, and freshly brewed tea.
Now for the main course....all I can say it is to die for!! Succulent pieces of chicken or lamb in a sauce served with soft ingira's ( a type of soft pancake made with Teff flour), salad, and their home made spicy sauces, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I even took some home. All the food BTW is fresh and made by the lovely lady Lily.
All the ingredients come every other week from Ethopia, even the coffee seeds.
We then had some medium rare meat topped with greens and cheese, served again with ingira's. By now we were way too full to try anything else. But the owner Andrew, wouldn't stop. He wanted us to try the home made honey wine. That was the perfect way to end our lunch.
But no wait. He insisted we try the freshly brewed Ethiopian coffee, served black in dainty cups. We four ladies couldn't believe we actually ate and drank to our hearts content.
The young server was so gracious, she took good care of us, so attentive and brought what we needed before we even asked.
What a great Friday afternoon, having lunch at The Spicy Ethiopian Restaurant downtown Toronto. Delicious food, great place, great service, and great host. A must go to place,

I recently dined at The Spicy Ethiopian with an old friend, and it was a remarkable experience .From the moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with warm hospitality that made us feel right at home. The hostesses name was Seven. Her warm smile and vast knowledge of the history and culinary of traditional Ethiopian lifestyle and the traditions that come with the while experience of dining . It had something that we lack on north American dining and lifestyle where everything is moving so fast and the spicy Ethiopian restaurant has a way of making you put all your troubles and anything that has you feeling overwhelmed from work, politics,,any bad energy it just vanishes when you smell the incense Hear the music that adds to the overall experience. The atmosphere sets the perfect tone for a delightful meal.
Now, let’s talk about the food! The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, including iconic staples like injera, doro wat, and misir wat. We ordered the meat platter and Bula be kitfo , and it was nothing short of incredible! The flavors were rich and complex, and the spices were perfectly balanced. Each bite felt like a journey through Ethiopia’s culinary heritage. I will leave pictures of the dishes we tried, because I don't know all the dishes but we enjoyed our time. The owner of the restaurant took time as well to talk with us and educated us about Africa, Ethiopian fashion, clothing ,colors and how they were being copied from the big high fashion designers that did not show homage to the mother land. All in all, we had a ball
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and made us feel like family. I hope everyone gets a chance to meet the staff and try Ethiopian food. Ours came with a history lesson that was a great honor 🎖 to me, and I will cherish this moment . It has left me with one of th3 best dining experiences that I haven't had in...

I recently visited Ethiopian Spice Kitchen, and let me tell you, it was an incredible culinary journey! I had heard about their authentic use of Ethiopian spices, and the experience more than lived up to the hype.
Food: The food was nothing short of amazing. I started with the Doro Wat, a spicy and flavorful chicken stew served on traditional Injera, a soft, tangy flatbread that perfectly balances the richness of the stew. The spices were bold but not overwhelming, making every bite a burst of flavor. I also tried the Tibs, tender beef stir-fried with onions and peppers, seasoned to perfection. The dishes were vibrant and packed with authentic Ethiopian flavors, thanks to their use of traditional spices like berbere and mitmita.
Service & Atmosphere: The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share their love of Ethiopian cuisine. They took the time to explain each dish and even suggested pairing different dishes together to enhance the experience. The atmosphere was cozy, with Ethiopian-inspired decor that made me feel like I was getting an authentic experience. The music and ambiance added to the overall vibe, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.
Value: For the quality and portions of the food, Ethiopian Spice Kitchen offers excellent value for money. The portions are generous, and the communal style of eating makes it a perfect spot for sharing meals with friends or family. It’s not just a meal, but an experience that leaves you full and happy.
Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a...
