Hi and welcome to another episode of javing it with Javier. Let's see what we are javing today. I'm trying out the garlic soy sauce ramen with extra meat and extra thick noodles. Let's dive right into the review.

The bowl was big and it was packed down. The extra noodles came in a separate bowl so I could dip it in after I was running out of noodles. I have got to say the noodles are top notch. Very reminiscent of the wonderful noodles I had in Japan. What I did not enjoy as much was the pork belly. It was very chewy and stiff unlike pork belly at other places where I can feel it melting in my mouth. That is my main complaint about this dish, everything else was perfect.

It is a small place, but service there is really good. I didn't believe how fast we received our order after ordering.

In terms of price, ordering the equivalent at other restaurants would cost a dollar or two more so that is very good. I liked how when I ordered extra noodles, I could realize that there were significantly more. Some places I question if they really did give me my extra noodles. I was so stuffed after that meal. I think the regular size was more than enough for me but I haveeee to get their extra noodles.

In conclusion, this is a small cozy place. Yet again, I am still fascinated at the chewy and tender noodles. I would definitely recommend this place to others. And that's it for today's episode of javing it with Javier. And remember...

Not sure what has happened, but the overall quality and service has gone downhill dramatically. This used to be one of my favourite ramen places but no longer. I usually order the spicy pork ramen and have eaten here about 10 times so I know this dish well. As soon as it arrived, I could see that the tomago egg was completely overcooked. Typically, it would be velvety, gooey, creamy and slow cooked. It was evident by looking that it was overcooked so I immediately informed the server (pictured) and asked for the egg to be replaced. He took it to the chef and asked for her opinion. The server came back and placed the unchanged dish back on my table and said ''here you go". As I stated it wasn't changed, he flippantly replied that "it is supposed to be like that". You could taste the yolk was almost powdery as it was so overcooked. The pork slices are no longer torched so the fat isn't as rendered and there isn't the smokey taste. The broth has completely been watered down and lacks the rich but sweet and spicy balance it had. The karaage fried chicken had almost no crunch as it did before and I foundn a piece of gristle (pictured). The quality has plummeted and it is sad to see the place sink into mediocrity. The service was rude and flippant. The chef needs to be retrained as I'm shocked that she thinks this egg is acceptable to be placed in...

I usually don't leave bad reviews of restaurants but my experience here was inexcusable.

Came into this restaurant today to eat with my friend around 5:30 and the waitress working there came and greeted us and told us about their menu. We ordered around 5:40 and waiting for half an hour after ordering and watched 3 other groups of people enter in after us, order after us AND get served serval dishes before us on top of seeing about 4-5 Uber workers come in to pick up orders. We had been looking around us for the half hour wondering where our food was and ended up asking the waitress when we were going to get our food and she literally had to search for our order and said with a look on her face "oh they're making it now"- meaning they literally didn't even start it until we asked because they definitely didn't start making it before we said something. On top of this the workers didn't even check in on us the entire time we were just sitting there or to let us know there was a delay.

We didn't receive our food, we got pretty poor service and I left hungry and quite frankly, really disappointed.

I would recommend going to the other ramen shops in this area- they were all busy inside compared to this place and all had good ratings- I definitely...

Touhenboku has been the goto for my ramen fix. I went there after 2-3 months for takeout. Always order the same thing - 2 veggie miso and 1 ultimate spicy veggie miso soup. I usually get 2 bags for the 3 soups and the 3 ramen containers. Today, only had 1 bag and somehow it didn't register. Got back home and my wife noticed it and asked me if I ordered less or forgot a bag. Looked in the bag. 3 soups and 3 ramen bowls. However, the soup containers were half the size of what I used to get before. The price is the same but the quantity of soup is significantly less. If that wasn't enough, the soup before used to come as spicy and regular but apparently that has changed since the last time I got takeout. Now they give a separate container with spicy sauce/paste. I found out after I called in to tell them that they made a mistake with the order. Unfortunately, the spicy sauce/paste was missing too. I mean, mistakes happen. But it was a little disappointing. Their response was that they can give me the spicy sauce next time. The food was good as usual. No complaints there. The overall experience was quite off-putting though. Not sure if I'll go back. Pic attached. Old soup container vs new.
