I have been going to this store before they moved across the street for years. Almost once a month to bring my neighbors in another city, and Toronto cheesecake.
I have never had any major problems with them as it was an easy transaction. However, 2 weeks ago I purchased 7 cheesecakes and the gentleman put 1 less cheesecake in. When I arrived in the other city, and was handing out cheesecakes, I realized one cheesecake was missing.
I called the telephone on the receipt and asked to speak with the store manager. The girl offered to help me instead, it seems like she had similar complaints as she immediately knew who I was talking about. She offered to take my phone number and name then told me to come in.
I told her I couldn’t go until 2 weeks later as I was not going to be in Toronto, she said that’s fine because she will write a note for me so they will know.
2 weeks go by.
I walked in today and then with the assistant store manager, Wendy, I told her the situation. She tried to find the “note” but she could not find it. However, she did offer me the cheesecake which I appreciate.
That being said, it felt really awkward because supposedly the first person that answered should have noted it. She did not. At least Wendy couldn’t find the note. Also the girl on the phone said I didn’t have to bring the receipt, so when I went I actually forgot the receipt at my other house, however I did show her a photo of the receipt.
Everything worked out, and Wendy was nice about it but the store lost a star because the girl two weeks ago on the phone
1/ refused to let me speak with the store manager 2/ didn’t leave the note, her name, etc for when I can pick it up.
If this situation comes up I highly recommend asking for the employees name and their position.
I will probably submit a complaint for the first employee that answered the phone whoever that was and then a compliment for the assistant...
Read moreUncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake store is an absolute delight for cheesecake and dessert lovers like myself! I have had the pleasure of ordering from this store not just once, but twice, and each experience has been exceptional.
One of the highlights from my visits was trying their heavenly angel hats in two different flavours: strawberry and Earl Grey. Personally, I found the Earl Grey angel hat to be my preferred choice. It struck the perfect balance of flavours, not overly sweet but incredibly satisfying. In fact, I couldn't resist devouring the entire angel hat in one sitting! As for the original cheesecake, it was simply divine, melting in my mouth with every bite.
One more treat that caught my attention was the Matcha Cheese Tart. This single-serving delight was a creamy sensation with a rich cheese filling that perfectly complemented the distinct matcha flavor.
Here's a breakdown of the items I ordered: Original Japanese Cheesecake ($14): Absolutely delicious and true to the Japanese cheesecake style, it was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. Strawberry Angel Hat ($14.50): A delightful variation of the angel hat, the strawberry flavour added a fruity twist that was both refreshing and indulgent. Earl Grey Angel Hat ($14.50): This was my personal favourite, with the delicate aroma of earl grey tea infusing each bite, providing a unique and delightful taste. Matcha Cheese Tart (single) ($3.75): Creamy, cheesy, and boasting the distinct flavour of matcha, this tart was a small but satisfying treat.
Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Cheesecake store continues to impress with their delectable cheesecakes and mouthwatering desserts. Whether you're a fan of the original cheesecake or want to explore their diverse menu, this place is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. Treat yourself to these delightful creations—you won't be...
Read moreUncle Tetsu has relocated to the North East side at Dundas and Bay Street (Atrium on the Bay). They used to be on the North West side (Greyhound Bus Terminal). I remembered when they first opened across the street, I lined up for 1.5 hours to get a hold of 1 out of 12 cheese cakes that came out of their small oven. They were selling it for $10 bucks or less for 1 unit back then. That was 2015. Fast forward, they still have a line up, but not as bad of a wait as before, as they now have more locations across the GTA. Relocation took placed in the summer of 2022.
This is where it all started in Toronto. In comparison to all other Uncle Tetsu locations, this is the only location that I know of that sells soft serve ice cream, hot/cold drinks, and have promotions for …
I tried the Crème Brûlée Cheese Tart which was insanely delicious. The crust’s texture was giving with a soft interior. The caramel topper was crispy and light weight.
The Matcha Madeleine reminds me of a muffin or a cupcake. It was also good too. I love the richness taste of the Matcha Powder.
They accept cash, debit and credit cards. There’s no washroom facilities on site or chairs to sit. It’s only take out. You can enter the bakery off Dundas Street or from Atrium on the Bay, but the line queues to Dundas Street. Take advantage of the Holiday tax break until February 15th, 2025 to sample...
