I just ordered from here on Uber eats and honestly I’m not surprised by what I received. Peter and his employees have been doing this for the past years since the starting of him opening his first location to this new one, I’ve been coming to his store for awhile and I decided not to eat from here for a couple of months due to the specific reasons of him skimping out on Jerk Seitan and feeling up the meals with mostly Vegetables or Rice.Today I did decide to take a risk to order from him and give it a try by buying extra Jerk on the side to only not receive Jerk Seitan in my Small Meal and just liquid that looked like soup in a separate container with two small pieces of jerk seitan that I payed extra for which was $5.00. In the photo it may appear big but it isn’t in person. This isn’t a protein meal because he isn’t even putting the protein in the meal. I mostly only got rice and that’s what filled up the container and he covers it up by putting vegetables on top to make it look full.I’m already paying for an over priced meal plus extra on that and I’m still not receiving what I bought. I will no longer be supporting him because it’s ridiculous how someone can show such greed towards his customer when they’re supporting him with their money especially for me being a long term customer. This was just a waste of money for me today! If you were in the same position (Peter and Employees) as your customers and received the unexpected meal that I got today, you would’ve laughed and said is this a joke. Theres other reviews that have been written about this same issue and for you to still continue this shows...
Read moreThe menu is confusing as a first-timer. For those with celiac disease this is concerning because it takes next to no gluten to cause an outbreak. Staff were dismissive and impatient when asked to clarify whether or not there was gluten in the food we received.
It’s difficult to enjoy food and feel positively towards a place that doesn’t happily clarify what they are serving or reassure those with dietary restrictions - in our case an autoimmune disease. This is especially odd coming from a vegan spot.
It’s entirely possible that they were under the pressure of a lunch rush that came in right after us and didn’t have the time to address our concerns as they would without chits on the rail. It’s disappointing because I really wanted to love this spot. I hope that future customers with celiac disease or gluten intolerances are met with more patience than we were. I also hope that our experience remains an outlier in what appears to be a solid track record of positive service.
The food was decent but as I said it’s hard to really love what you’re eating if you’re concerned it could make you seriously ill. If you must make sure you know what you are eating and need to advocate for yourself, I would avoid coming in when they’re busy as they may not have the proper time to explain their menu format. It...
Read moreWhen I visited Veggie D’Light I was embraced by a cozy atmosphere with lovely music, warm and friendly staff and a view of the open kitchen from the seating area. It was all very nice and inviting, but the moment I tasted my first spoonful of the soup of the day I knew I was in for a real treat! It was French Lentil and it was so flavourful and delicious and served piping hot! Following the soup I had a large plate of the most amazing vegan, gluten free Caribbean food I’ve ever had. It included a supreme curry that was also so beautifully flavourful and delicious, Moringa loaf, brown basmati rice with flax and quinoa, steamed organic greens, steamed squash and it was topped with a fresh organic salad. The flavours were out of this world. The good feeling I had from being at this restaurant and from enjoying all the wonderful happy food was memorable. It made my whole day amazing. I can’t wait to visit again. I’ve already recommended to all my friends. Bravo Chef Peter and all the wonderful staff at...
