The food is good, but the workers don't understand or know their own menu. The shawarma plates at the top of the board specify that they include potatoes. I like to order the "beef and 2 falafel" plate. I've been twice in the past week and a half, with both orders getting messed up.
The first time, they messed up my order even though I specified that I wanted the plate (the worker only gave me potatoes when I asked and only after I read to him at least 2 or 3 times on the menu where it said potatoes and he didn't do it until he looked at the menu himself, and also gave me chicken instead of beef).
Today, I specified the beef + 2 falafel plate. The worker asked if I knew it would be extra and I said that it was fine (it's one of the more expensive dishes). However, once I got to the cash there was an added charge for 1.39 specifying something that I couldn't understand from the screen. I asked why it was there and the cashier said it was extra because of taxes. I knew there would be taxes on top of the plate, however, this was a separate line charge. I asked why it was there because the plate price is all-inclusive for what I ordered. She went down and read the menu and said "Yes it's this price!" and I told her that I know, however there was still an extra charge on the screen on top of the price she told me. She then talked to her coworker in another language and did end up removing the extra charge.
I don't know if I'll return. It's annoying and a bit stressful trying to order something on their menu that staff don't seem to know exists (even though it is clear in the writing on the menu what I am ordering). It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong even though I'm ordering a dish that's listed...
Read moreVilla Madina at other locations reminded me of the shawermas that I used to hog from my childhood in the Middle East however I cannot tell the same about the team or the chef at Eaton centre.
Below review is regarding my experience at Villa Madina Eaton centre where I went twice.
If I could give a negative star rating here, I would have given that.
Shawarma - Messed up. Falafel (Small size) - Highway robbery. Customer service- Pathetic, untrained & unfriendly. Will I go back again? - Never.
So I placed an order for a large chicken shawerma, large beef shawerma and a small falafel roll. They hardly put any meat or chicken in the shawarma despite the less choice of salads made by me. A messed up proportion of salads with the meat. Hummus in shawarma? Seriously? The guy doesn't know how to roll sandwiches either! Salads segregated on one side and the lil meat on the other.. Extremely stingy with the sauces.
After I made the payment, I was given a receipt for the sandwiches and to further add on to my displeasure, they asked me to pay additional 1.5 dollars for the extra garlic sauce (toum) & sesame seed sauce (thahini) and dint even give me a receipt.
These guys needs to be trained on how to make shawermas, falafel sandwiches and customer service.
You guys are not only in the business of filling up stomachs but also on a mission to create delight in the hearts of...
Read moreStraight up never get a meal here, let the other reviews here speak for themselves. I'd love to support a halal place. But this place sucks; Overpriced, Bland slapped together shawarmas, Rude, you name it. Other villa madinas are better. Definitly my harshest review of any place. Rude staff. Guy looks like at me like I've committed murder for asking for a plastic bag for what was already overpriced bland shawarma that's I wanted to go.
This one wide guy at the cash looks at you like your the reason his life sucks, must hate his job cause he looks miserable. One time the same guy was at cash and the machine wasn't displaying the right price (it just wasn't working that day which is ok, things happen) and I asked him why my one shawarma costed 15$. He asked me if I could count and insinuated that I was on weed (it happened to be 4/20 that day). They probably make a lot here yet I've heard they hire people under the table. Can't support such a terrible place. So many better options in the Eaton center. If you want a shawarma that tastes better for 5$ walk through Dundas station into 10 Dundas Sq and get one at Zeytonas, halal and they are much better, and you won't support this...
