AMAZING sushi!! Very hard to beat. Their spicy salmon crunch, and other torched sushi rolls are very delicious. They’re also ginormous so when ordering be sure to get less than you usually do or be prepared to pack some for home. What I really like about their sushi is that it has lots of filling and little rice on the outside which is exactly the way we like to enjoy our sushi. That’s hard to come by! I always find sushi places make their rolls with a lot of rice and little filling so you end up eating a mountain of rice in the end. That’s not the case with VIPS at all! Even with their regular rolls. The selection is great, the staff there are always so happy and friendly which is so nice to see! I think the main sushi chef there is the owner. He’s always extremely friendly and always hard at work. If you’re eating there keep in mind it’s a small place that focuses on take out so you might have to wait for a table or you’ll get lucky and score one right away. Great for a group of 4 or 2 for sit down dining. We’ve also gotten party trays there as well and they’re very accommodating as we have some friends that are vegetarian/vegan. The prices are also really great as well! Nothing bad to say about VIPS. You gotta try it for yourself to see how amazing it is! 🍣 Highly recommended!

Honestly the best sushi places I’ve ever gone. I’m not much of a sushi lover, I go to the occasional Japanese restaurant and get maybe a couple of pieces but they never really fit my palette. Like places like Ichiban, or Sushi Moto, etc were never really interesting. But after discovering this absolute whole in the wall I can’t stop eating. As I’m writing this in the past 24 hours I’ve basically eaten half a platter of their sushi completely on my own. The staff are all amazing people always having an amazing time and really make you feel included and appreciated as a customer. I now go on an almost daily to weekly basis and always order the spicy or the creamy crab rolls exclusively but their huge platters are amazing for parties and gatherings. If you want amazing sushi and the fun and humour from a hibachi restaurant go to VIP sushi they’re cheaper and the experience is way better

We checked this place out because it was reviewed pretty highly. Because it's mainly a take-out joint, there are only 2 small tables available for dining in. We ordered 2 rolls: Orange Dragon Roll and Sunset Roll. As many reviews have already alluded, the rolls are huge and much more filling than your typical roll at other sushi joints. Taste-wise, the rolls were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The Sunset Roll was better than the Orange Dragon Roll simply because I'm not the biggest fan of seasoned imitation crab (and the Orange Dragon Roll had a lot of it). If you're looking to get a satiating roll fix for lunch, I'd recommend this place as it it's quite decent without breaking the bank.

Decent tasting sushi, satisfactory. But I am taking stars off my rating, for a health + safety concern. my friend went by today to pick up a takeout order, and informed me that when she went inside to do pickup, none of the staff (working at the food prep or at cash) were wearing masks. At present, even though the city is lifting restrictions, covid19 is still out there, and antisomatic symptoms or not, all restaurant staff should be wearing masks and taking more precautions, especially when preparing food for customers. My friend said something to them, "I think you need to be wearing masks", but I don't know how seriously the staff took this comment as the one guy just responded, "OK" and kept doing his thing. I don't know if it is just today but I will hold off from ordering sushi from them for a while after hearing about this. Because honestly, this is disappointing. I hope VIPS Sushi does better. Their sushi is great but they (and all places doing takeout) need to be more hygienic and safe. Just a fair warning to anyone ordering from there.

** this is a food safety + public safety concern

  • if this concerns you too (as it should), please mention raise the concern to management.

We've already informed them that we're watching them and will inform/report to public health if needed. For a food place that's open and serving customers rn, masks...

Tried this place for the first time today, overall, it was good. But truthfully, just good. Not OK, not great, but good. Here's why: Got the salmon avocado roll and the portion of avo and portion of salmon were average. I've had this roll at other place where the pieces of salmon and avo were huge, and those bites just hit different. Also got their salmon tataki roll which is apparently their top specialty roll, and that was good, but not great. It lacked pop, zing, or that smack of flavor that makes your mouth water when you bite into something with real perfect balance of flavors and textures. Lastly got the shrimp cucumber avo roll, this one may have been my favorite, it had good flavor and balance, but if you think about it, that speciality roll which was twice the price should have been the clear winner. All in all, if you're craving sushi and you're in the specific area it'll likely hit the spot, but I wouldn't go out of my way or drive more than 3km for this place, there's simply better places if you're willing to...
